Dyersburg State Gazette Thursday, January 4, 1934 RITES FOR MRS. BIGGS SATURDAY AFTERNOON HERE Pneumonia Fatal To Esteemed Dyersburg Woman. Was Native Of Dyer County Following an illness of pneumonia, Mrs. Kate A. Biggs, mother of J. F. Biggs, president of the First Citizens National Bank, died at 9:00 o'clock Thursday night at her home, 1215 Sampson avenue, here. Mrs. Biggs was a native of Dyer county, having been born 78 years ago at the Jones ancestral home, now a landmark in the Tigrett community. After her marriage to the late W. H. Biggs, prominent West Tennessean, she resided for a number of years at Alamo in Crockett county and later made her home for many years in Jackson until the death of her husband a few years ago, when she moved to Dyersburg to reside. She was a daughter of the late J. W. Jones, well known Dyer county planter. She was held in the highest esteem in her native community, in her former homes and in Dyersburg, where she spent her latter days. She is survived by one daughter, Miss Willie Biggs, who made her home with her mother, and three sons, J. F. and R. B. Biggs of Dyersburg and T. C. Biggs of Memphis. A brother, J. H. Jones, of Tigrett also survive her. Funeral services were held at the residence on Sampson avenue at 10:30 o'clock Saturday morning and were conducted by the Rev. George P. Scott of the First Presbyterian church. The remains were taken overland to Jackson for interment in the Hollywood cemetery at 1:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon. The following will serve as palbearers: J. N. Parker, Dr. J. A. Green, Fred Moore, Dr. Eugene Wyatt, Dr. J. M. Cole, John R. Menzies, Joe P. Tipton and J. V. Thomas. J. W. Curry and Son of Dyersburg were in charge of the funeral arrangements.
