As published in the State Gazette February 18, 1957 Fred Biggers Of City Dies Today Fred Biggers, farmer and longtime resident of Dyer county, died at his home at 1329 East Court street at 5:10 o'clock this morning. He was 64. Funeral services for Mr. Biggers will be held at four o'clock Tuesday afternoon at Curry's Chapel. The Reverend Hugh Callens will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. J.W. Curry and son will have charge of arrangements and the body will lie in state at Curry's until time for the rites. Born on May 12, 1897, in Florence, Alabama, Mr. Biggers was the son of the late John and Betty Moore Biggers, native Alabamians. He moved here with his family as a young boy, and had lived here about 60 years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Amanda Biggers; five daughters, Mrs. Lucilla Sumners, Steele, Missouri, Mrs. Ida Mae Sweatt, Mrs. Leonard White, both of Dyersburg, Mrs. Opal Cutler, Gideon, Missouri, and Mrs. Bertha King, Chicago: 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. |
