As published in the State Gazette April 15, 1937 Bogota Farmer Dies Thursday William H. Bennett Succumbs Thursday To Long Heart Illiness William H. Bennett, 69, well known farmer of the Bogota community, died at his home there at 5:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon. He had been suffering from a heart ailment since September of last year. Mr. Bennett was a native of Gibson county but had resided in Dyer county for many years and most of that time in the Bogota community, where he was highly esteemed. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Sallie Bennett, a son, J.W. Bennett of Bogota; a daughter, Mrs. Lola May Countess of Dyersburg; three brothers, Charlie Bennett of Bogota, Jim and Sam Bennett, both of Caruthersville, Mo., and a sister, Mrs. Jennie Bell, of Dyersburg. Funeral services were held at two o'clock Friday afternoon at the residence. Burial was in the Oak Grove cemetery. J.W. Curry and Sons of Dyersburg were in charge of the funeral arrangements. [William H. Bennett is my great grandfather. William was proceeded in death by a son PM (Pete) Bennett.] |
