As published in the State Gazette on February 22, 1960 Bogota Resident Dies on Saturday James W. Bennett of Bogota, a veteran of World War I, died at his residence on Saturday afternoon. He was 67. Funeral services for Mr. Bennett were held at two o'clock today at the Bogota Church of Christ, of which he was a member. Parks Thurmond officiated and burial was in Fairview Cemetery here. Serving as pallbearers were Herbert Welch, Raymond Woods, Charlie Howell, John Duke, Woodrow Harness and William Parker. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jennie Countess Bennett; three daughters, Mrs. May Thurmond, Bogota, Mrs. Ruth Pope, Trenton, and Mrs. Reba Hopper, Detroit, Michigan; three sons, Ray Bennett, Dyersburg, Carmack Bennett and Arthur Bennett, both of Bogota; a sister, Mrs. Lola Countess, Bogota and 11 grandchildren.
James W. Bennett was born November 14, 1892 and died February 20, 1960.
