Mrs. Peck Barnes, sister -n- law of Miss. Edna Barnes, formerly a student nurse at the Baird- Brewer General Hospital, at Dyersburg, died late Friday at her home in the Elbridge Community, northwest of here, of burns suffered in an explosion. Mrs. Barnes started a fire with gasoline in an oil store at her home on Christmas Day when the stove exploded and set fire to her clothing. The gasoline was placed in the stove by mistake. She was badly burned and survived her injuries only about 24 hours. She is survived by her husband. Services and burial were held at Elbridge Saturday afternoon.
