FRIDAY AFTERNOON MAY 19TH, 1916

JOE R. BAKER--one of the oldest business men in Dyersburg, Died at his home on Sampson Ave., Friday evening, after a short illness. Mr. BAKER was born in Robertson County 74 years ago, came to Dyer in 1849. He was engaged in the mercantile business of Baker Bros., & Watkins, he, his brother, JIM, and BAT WATKINS. In 1897, he was married to Miss MARY SUGG. She only lived eight years after their marriage. One son, JOE, Jr., survives this union. He is survived by his son; five brothers, JIM BAKER, E. H. BAKER, and CALVIN BAKER, of this city, and FRANK BAKER and HAMP BAKER, of Tx. Interment in Fairview Cemetery.
