Be it Remembered that a County Court was begun and held at the Court House in the Town of Dyersburg in and for the County of Dyer, State of Tennessee, on the first Monday (it being the 7th day) of October in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and fifty and the Seventy fifth year of American Independence.

Present and holding said Court the Worshipful THOMAS J. CONNELL Esquire Chairman, SAMUEL McDAVID and ALEXANDER B. STALCUP Esquires quorum, JOHN F. SINCLAIR, ASA GRIFFIN, THOMAS NASH, WILLIAM MILLER, BENJAMIN W. PERRY, H. N. JACKSON, JOSEPH N. PIERCE, SAMUEL G. GILLESPIE, CHRISTIAN S. COBB, SILAS FERRELL, HENRY WYNNE, ISAAC SAWYER, SAMUEL WALKER, JOHN G. H. WILSON, ABNER C. PIERCE, HENRY P. STRAWN, THOMAS F. FIELDS, JOHN B. PITTS, JOSEPH MICHELL and JOSEPH F. This day HENRY WYNNE was appointed Administrator with the will annexed of JOHN WYNNE late of this County, who, it appeared to the Court had died leaving a nuncupative Will but in it appointing no Executor. Whereupon came the said HENRY WYNNE into open Court here together with ALFRED ENOCHS and EDWARD HASKINS his securities...

This day the Nuncupative Will of JOHN WYNNE late of this County deceased, was produced in open Court here and proven by the oaths of PRESTON C. WALKER and STEPHEN KING subscribing witnesses thereto...

Ordered by the Court that DAVIS PARRISH & hands and A. J. PATE's and WILLIAM W. BESSENT's and CRISP's hands be and they are hereby taken from that part of the Road from Dyersburg to Jackson of which JOSEPH MILLER was overseer and hereafter will work on that part of said road of which WILLIAM F. NASH is overseer.

NASH's and the end of the widow BOWEN's land, and that he have all the hands originally belonging to said road as well as LOVELL COFFMAN, MEEK BOWEN, WILLIAM CRAIG, THOMAS MORRIS, JOHN SUDBURY, THOMAS NASH and their hands...

Ordered by the Court that the hands living East of a line from Lewis' Creek by way of BAKER's to the Obion a due North course be allotted to the Troy Road and WILLIAM and DAVID NEELY on the West side of said line be also allotted to said road. And that the Bluff Road leading to Obion River at CHARLES P. CLARK's be worked by the remaining hands on the West side of said line.

Exparte Petition for division

HARDY MOORE and MARTHA his wife,
BENJAMIN KELLY and CENA JANE his wife,
MARY A. BIZZELL, JAMES L. BIZZELL,
STEPHEN J. BIZZELL, SARAH C. BIZZELL &
ELIZABETH A. BIZZELL, the last five of whom
are minors and appear by HARDY MOORE
their Guardian.

This day came on this cause to be heard before the Worshipful County Court, a majority of all the Justices of the County being present, upon petition and proof; when it appeared to the Court that the said MARTHA wife of HARDY MOORE is the widow and the other Petitioners the heirs at law of LEMUEL K. BIZZELL deceased, that in that capacity they are the owners of three slaves towit CHARITY aged about 50 years, MARY about 18 years and ILEY aged about 10 years. That the said MARTHA is entitled to her dower in the following tract of land which subject to said right of dower belongs to the said CENA JANE wife of BENJ. KELLY and MARY, JAMES, STEPHEN, SARAH and ELIZABETH BIZZELL equally, share and share alike; And the said Petitioners have a right to a division of said land into six equal parts subject to said right of dower, and have a right to a division of said slaves into seven equal parts. And it appearing to the Court that said slaves cannot be so divided and that it is for the manifest interest of the parties concerned that the land should be sold for the purposes of partition. It is therefore ordered, adjudged and decreed that the Clerk of this Court shall proceed to sell said land and slaves separately at the Court house door in Dyersburg on a credit of one and two years, taking from the purchaser bond with two good securities for the purchase money after advertising the time, place and terms of sale at the Court house in Dyersburg, at three other places in said Town and at three other public places in said County for thirty days before the sale. And said Clerk shall report his proceedings herein to the next January term of this Court, till which time all other matters are reserved.

This day, the present being a Quarterly Term of this and all the Justices of this Court being present, an election was held for County Trustee to fill the vacancy occasioned by the death of the late JOHN WYNNE Trustee of said County, deceased; when on the first ballot, JOSEPH N. PIERCE having received a majority of all the votes cast in said election, was declared duly and constitutionally elected County Trustee of Dyer County to serve until the First Monday in April A.D. 1852.

This day URIAH C. HENDRICKS was chosen and appointed Guardian of the minor heirs of MOSES HEDDEN late of this County deceased. Whereupon came the said HENDRICKS into open Court here together with ELI BOYETT and SAMUEL WILLIAMS his securities...

On a Motion to allow THOMAS NASH Fifteen dollars for two Record Books furnished many years ago one for the Register's Office and the other for the Circuit Clerks office for the use of Dyer County...

Exparte Petition for division.

ALBERT G. SMITH, and
EDWARD M. SMITH who is
a minor and appears by his Guar-
dian ASA FOWLKES.

This day came on this cause to be heard on petition and proof before the Worshipful County Court of Dyer County, a majority of all the Justices of said Court being present; when it appeared to the satisfaction of the Court that the said Petitioners ALBERT G. SMITH and EDWARD M. SMITH are children and heirs of JAMES SMITH decd that in that capacity they are owners of the fifteen following slaves, towit; DICK a man aged about 35 years, DENNIS a man aged about 20 years, MARIA a woman aged about 40, SARAH a woman aged about 35, MARGARET a woman aged about 20 and her two children one about 2 years and the other about 6 months of age, also ISAAC a boy aged about 14, MINERVA a girl aged about 13, LUCINDA a girl aged about 10, CHINA a girl ages about 8, SAM a boy aged about 6, MARTHA a girl about 4, MAJOR a boy aged about 3 years and JUDY a girl aged about 4 months; which said slaves belong to them jointly and equally share and share alike. It further appeared to the satisfaction of the Court that the said ALBERT G. SMITH is of lawful age and entitled by law to sue for a division of said slaves and the said EDWARD M. SMITH by his Guardian ASA FOWLKES is consenting to said division. It is therefore ordered, adjudged and decreed by this court that HENRY WYNNE, ELIAS P. LIGHT, SAMUEL G. GILLESPIE, JOHN W. RODGERS and FERDINAND L. SAUNDERS be appointed Commissioners to divide the aforesaid fifteen slaves equally, fairly and impartially between the said ALBERT G. SMITH and EDWARD M. SMITH; that they meet at ASA FOWLKES on the 28th day of December next and make said division and report their proceedings here to the next quarterly Term of this Court till which time all further matters are reserved.

Exparte Petition for Sale of Slaves

JOSEPH MICHELL Admr

Be it remembered that on this 8th day of October A.D. 1850, came on this cause to be heard before the Worshipful County Court of said County of Dyer, a majority of all the Justices of said Court being present and it appearing to the satisfaction of the Court from due proof in open Court that it is necessary to enable said administrator to pay the bona fide debts against said estate, to make sale of the following slaves mentioned in the Petition filed here in this cause. It is therefore ordered, adjudged and decreed by the Court (a majority of the whole number of the Justices of this County being present and concurring herein) that JAMES H. DOYLE Clerk of this Court be appointed a Commissioner to make sale of the slaves mentioned in said Petition towit; CHARITY a woman aged about Eighteen years, Chaney a woman aged about thirty years and her two children AMANDA a girl aged about three years and LEWIS a boy aged about one year to be sold together in one lot, and HENRY a boy aged about Eleven years; and that said commissioner after first advertizing thirty days at five Public places in said County sell the same to the highest bidder at public sale for cash in hand, and that he report his proceedings herein to the next quarterly term of this Court till which time all other matters are reserved.
