Be it Remembered that a county court was begun and held for the County of Dyer State of Tennessee at the Court House in the Town of Dyersburg on the first Monday in October it being the second day of said month in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred & forty Eight & in the 73rd year of American Independence. Present and holding said Court the Worshipfull THOMAS J. CONNELL Esq. Chairman of said court A. B. STALCUP, JEHIEL M. McCORKLE, SILAS FERRELL, H. N. JACKSON, BENJAMIN W. PERRY, ASA GRIFFIN, JOHN F. Issued 4th Oct 1848 On a Motion to allow WILLIAM A. DAWSON and D. J. WILLIAMSON six Dollars for executing an order of this court in Taking keeping & bringing the three youngest children of KING McVAYs into court here to be disposed of by this court. One Third of all the Justices of the court being present those voting for said allowance were Esquires CONNELL, STALCUP, SINCLAIR, GRIFFIN, McCORKLE, WYNNE & PIERCE so said allowance was made & ordered to be paid by the county Trustee.
Issued 4th Oct 1848 On a Motion to allow JOHN ROBERTS Sixteen Dollars for Making Table & desk &c for circuit Clerks office &c One Third of all the Justices of this court being present...
On a Motion and it appearing to the satisfaction of the court here that WILLIAM ANTHONY has departed this life intestate & it is therefore ordered by the court that ROBERT H. GOODLOE be appointed a special administrator on all the goods & chattels Rights & credits of said deceased... together with WILLIAM A. DAVISON & SAMUEL C. HENDERSON his securities...
This day WILLIAM H. APPLEWHITE Guardian of the minor heirs of HANY APPLEWHITE deceased came into court Here & Reported that there had nothing come into his hands as Guardian &c & Tendered his Resignation as guardian &c which was Received by the court & ordered of Record.
This day RICHARD H. APPLEWHITE was chosen & appointed as Guardian of MARY APPLEWHITE & JOHN APPLEWHITE Minor Heirs of HANY APPLEWHITE decd Whereupon came said APPLEWHITE into court together with EDWARD HASKINS his security & entered into & acknowledged Bond in the penal sum of Fifteen Hundred Dollars conditioned & payable as the Law directs & was duly qualified.
On a Motion and it appearing to the satisfaction of the court here that JOHN GALIHER has departed this life intestate. It is therefore ordered by the court that DAVID J. GALIHER be appointed administrator of all & singular the goods & chattels Rights & credits of said deceased... together with JEHIEL M. McCORKLE his security...

This day THOMAS H. JOHNSON was appointed by this court commissioner of the Obion River and was duly qualified &c.
Issued 4th Oct 1848 This day JOHN CROSSNOE produced in open court here the scalps of Five Wolves all over four months old...
Ordered by the court that HARVEY CATRUM work on the Hales Point Road under A. B. STALCUP overseer &c.
This day Zacheus B. PHILLIPS Sheriff & collector of the public Taxes of this county made Return of a List of delinquent & Insolvent Polls amounting to [blank]. Received by the court & ordered of Record.
This day GEORGE W. CRAW obtained Leave to Record his stock mark which is a smooth crop & under bit in the Right Ear.
This day a settlement made by JOHN WARD Administrator of HUMPHREY STALLENS [Stallings] deceased with JAMES H. DOYLE Clerk of this court was presented in open court & in all things confirmed & ordered of Record.
Ordered by the court that A. C. BOWEN be appointed overseer of that part of the Road commencing at Jackson Road... and that he have the following hands Towit ELIZABETH BOWEN, S. SUDBURY, THOS. NASHES hands and all other hands in the same bounds...
Ordered that court adjourn until court in course.
