Be it Remembered that a County Court was begun and held at the Court House in the Town of Dyersburg in and for the County of Dyer, State of Tennessee, on the First Monday (it being the fourth day) of March in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty & in the Seventy fourth year of the American Independence.

Present and holding said Court the Worshipful THOMAS J. CONNELL Esquire Chairman, SAMUEL McDAVID and ALEXANDER B. STALLCUP Esqs quorum, THOMAS NASH, JOSEPH N. PIERCE, HENRY WYNNE, ISAAC SAWYER, SAML G. GILLESPIE, SAMUEL WALKER, ASA GRIFFIN, HUGH N. JACKSON, SILAS FERRELL, HENRY P. STRAWN, CHRISTIAN S. COBB, WILLIAM MILLER Esquires Justices of this Court; Zaccheus B. PHILLIPS Sheriff of this County and JAMES H. DOYLE Clerk of this Court when after proclamation in the usual manner, the following proceedings were had, towit:

This day WILLIAM A. DAWSON who was duly and constitutionally elected Sheriff of Dyer County on the Second day of this month, for the Term of Two years next from and after that date, came into open Court here and entered into and acknowledged Bond...

This day DEVERUX J. WILLIAMSON who was duly and constitutionally elected Constable for the Fourth civil district of Dyer County for Two years next from and after the 2nd day of March 1850, came into open Court here together with CHARLES RUDDER, ALBERT G. FERGUSON and THOMAS J. CONNELL his securities and entered into and acknowledged Bond in the penal sum of Four Thousand Dollars, conditioned and payable as the law directs, and was duly qualified.

This day WILLIAM P. RICE who was duly and constitutionally elected Constable for the 1st civil district of Dyer County for Two years next from and after the 2nd day of March 1850, came into open Court here together with ANTHONY W. SWIFT and ALFRED T. FIELDER his securities...

This day JOHN NASH who was duly and constitutionally elected Constable for the 2nd civil district of Dyer County for Two years next from and after the 2nd day of March 1850, came into open Court here together with THOMAS NASH, JOSEPH MILLER and WILLIAM MILLER his securities...

This day WILLIAM H. APPLEWHITE who was duly and constitutionally elected Constable for the 6th civil district of Dyer County for Two years next from and after the 2nd day of March 1850, came into open Court here together with SAMUEL G. GILLESPIE and RICHARD H. McGAUGHEY his securities...

This day, a majority of all the Justices of this Court being present, an election was held for Entry Taker of Dyer County, when ISAAC SAMPSON having received a majority of all the votes cast in said election, was declared duly and constitutionally elected. And thereupon came the said SAMPSON into Court here together with SAMUEL McDAVID and THOMAS J. CONNELL his securities...

Whereupon came the said APPLEWHITE into open Court here together with HENRY WYNNE his security and entered into and acknowledged Bond...

This day ISAAC SAWYER Admr. of the Estate of B. SMITH deceased returned to Court here an Account of the hire of Slaves and rent of lands belonging to said Estate for the year 1849 which was received by the Court and ordered to be recorded.

FOSTER be appointed a Jury of view to view and mark out an alteration in the Dresden Road commencing at the South East corner of HENRY FOWLKES' Farm...

Be it remembered that on this 4th day of March 1850 before the worshipful County Court of Dyer County now is session at the Court house in the Town of Dyersburg, Twelve Justices of said Court present, a Petition from the citizens of the Town of Dyersburg was presented praying said Court to grant unto said citizens corporate powers and privileges. And it appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that the citizens of said Town and those holding property within the same, desire and wish the said Town incorporated as a Town Corporate by the metes and bounds set forth in their said Petition as follows, towit; Beginning on the North bank of the North fork of the Forked Deer River at the point where the west boundary line of the tract of land called the Town tract (a 640 acre tract entered in the name of JOHN McIVER) strikes said River, Running thence North with the West boundary of said Town tract to the North west corner of the same; Thence East with the North boundary line of the same to a point due North of the North East corner of a tract of 11 1/4 acres laid off for Dyer Academy, Thence South to the North East corner of said 11 1/4 acres; Thence South along the east boundary of the same and continueing with said boundary bearing west to where it strikes the East boundary of the Sixty acre tract originally laid off for the Town of Dyersburg: Thence South with said East boundary to the South East corner of said Sixty acres; Thence West to the River and with the same as it meanders west to the Beginnings. And it further appearing to the satisfaction of the Court here that the Town ought to be incorporated. It is therefore ordered, adjudged and decreed by this Court (the whole Twelve Justices being present and concurring therein) that the citizens within the boundaries aforesaid be and they are hereby incorporated as a Town Corporate under the name and Style of the Town of Dyersburg with all the powers and privileges ennumerated in the Act of the General Assembly of the State of Tennessee passed on the Seventh day of January in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight hundred and fifty, authorising the several County Court of this State to grant charters of incorporation to the several Towns villages &c. It is further ordered that this order be certified to the Register of Dyer County for Registration, and that the Sheriff of Dyer County proceed according to law to open and hold an Election for Seven Aldermen for said Town.
