Dyer County Court Clerk Minutes

Dated June 4, 1849


Be it Remembered that a county court was begun and held for the County of Dyer State of Tennessee at the Court House in the Town of Dyersburg on the first Monday in June it being the fourth day of said month in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred & forty Nine & in the Seventy third year of the Independence of the United States of America.

Present and holding said Court the Worshipful THOMAS J. CONNELL Esquire Chairman of said Court, SAMUEL McDAVID and A. B. STALLCUP Esquires, quorum Justices, HENRY WYNNE, J. M. McCORKLE & J. N. PIERCE Esquires of said Court, Z. B. PHILLIPS Sheriff of said County and JAMES H. DOYLE Clerk of said Court; when the following proceedings were had, towit:

This day the widow of MOSES HEDDEN deceased came into court here and waived her right to the administration of his Estate in favor of ELI BOYETT, who thereupon came forward together with his securities J. M. McCORKLE and JAMES H. DOYLE and entered into and acknowledged Bond...

Issued 4th June 1849

Ordered by the Court that E. A. McCORKLE, R. A. H. McCORKLE and DAVID HENDRICKS be appointed Commissioners to lay off and set apart a years provisions for the widow and children of MOSES HEDDEN deceased, and that they being first duly Sworn report to the next Term of this court.

This day J. M. McCORKLE was chosen and appointed Guardian of the minor Heirs of MOSES HEDDEN deceased, whereupon the said J. M. McCORKLE came forward together with SAMUEL McDAVID his security and entered into and acknowledged Bond...

Ordered by the Court that E. WOODS be appointed overseer of that part of the Yorkville Road between the corner of WILLIAM J. SCOBY's land and the Gibson County line, instead of WILLIAM H. FRANKLIN resigned...
