Dyer County Court Clerk Minutes Dated June 5, 1848 |
Be it Remembered that a county court was begun and held for the County of Dyer State of Tennessee at the Court House in the Town of Dyersburg on the first Monday in June it being the fifth day of said month in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred & forty Eight & in the 72 year of American Independence. Present and holding said Court the Worshipfull THOMAS J. CONNELL Esquire Chairman of said court ALEXANDER B. STALCUP, SAMUEL McDAVID, CHRISTIAN COBB, SAMUEL G. GILLESPIE, & ISAAC SAWYERS Esquires Justices of said court Z. B. PHILLIPS Sheriff of said county & JAMES H. DOYLE Clerk of said court when the court proceeded to business.
Issued June 6th 1848 Ordered by the court that JOHN L. JAMES be & he is hereby appointed overseer of the Streets of Dyersburg in place of A. G. PIERCE resigned...
This day a settlement made by THOMAS MILLER Guardian of the minor heirs of JOSEPH TURNAGE deceased with JAMES H. DOYLE Clerk of this court was produced in open court here & in all things confirmed by the court & ordered of Record.
This day SILAS FERRELL & HENRY WYNNE produced here in open court, commissions from NEAL S. BROWN Governor of the State of Tennessee appointing & commissioning them Justices of this court...
This day a settlement made by JOSEPH G. MAYFIELD one of the Administrators of JANE MAYFIELD Deceased with JAMES H. DOYLE Clerk of this court was produced in open court & in all things confirmed by this court & ordered of Record.
Issued 10th June 1848 Ordered by the court that G. S. JONES, CULPEPPER GREEN, WILLIAM COTHRAN, CABLE SMITH & H. L. SCOBY be and they are hereby appointed a Jury to Review to view and mark out a Road...
This day J. M. RIDINS ---? chosen and appointed Guardian of MARGARET RIDINS formerly MARGARET NASH whereupon came said RIDINS into open court here together with J. W. ECHOLS his security & entered into & acknowledged Bon in the penal sum of Fifteen Hundred Dollars conditioned & payable as the Law directs & was duly qualified &c.
This day BENJAMIN W. PERRY and H. N. JACKSON who has been duly commissioned Justices of this court came into open court here & taken the several oaths prescribed by Law as Justices as aforesaid & Taken their seats upon the bench &c.
