Dyer County Court Clerk Minutes Dated December 3, 1849 |

Be it Remembered that a county court was begun and held for the County of Dyer State of Tennessee at the Court House in the Town of Dyersburg on the first Monday (it being the third day) of December in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred & forty Nine & in the 74th year of American Independence. Present and holding said Court the Worshipful THOMAS J. CONNELL Esquire Chairman, SAML McDAVID and ALEX B. STALCUP Esquires quorum, HENRY P. STRAWN, ISAAC SAWYER, JOHN WYNNE, and JOSEPH N. PIERCE Esquires Justices of said Court, Zaccheus B. PHILLIPS Sheriff of said County AND JAMES H. DOYLE Clerk of said Court, when after proclamation in the usual form, the following proceedings were had
Issued Decr 4th 1849 Ordered by the Court that LEE WILLIAMS, RISDOM ROBERTSON and WILLIS HALL be appointed a Jury of view to review and mark out an alteration in the Jackson Road near LEWIS WARREN's and that they being first duly sworn report to the next Term of the court.
This day GEORGE R. MULHERIN and others, Jury of view, presented a report here to court fixing the Trenton Road to run from the 1st mile post to the west end of Col. SAMPSON's Lane... to the Street South of Maj. EARLE's old Tavern House...
Issued Dec 4th 1849 Ordered by the Court that JONATHAN D. SCOBY keep that part of the Yorkville Road of which he is overseer, in repair...
Certified Dec 3rd 1849 This day a Deed of quitclaim and release from J. R. JACKSON, WILLIAM N. JACKSON, MILUS W. MOODY & ELIZABETH A. his wife, STITH S. JACKSON, MARY J. JACKSON and H. N. JACKSON to SERENA JACKSON for Lands &c in Johnson County, Arkansas was produced in open court and the execution thereof duly acknowledged by H. N. JACKSON one of the Grantor &c and ordered to be certified by the Clerk of this court.
Ordered by the Court that ASA GRIFFIN be appointed Revenue Commissioner in the 1st civil District and that he take in and return a List of the Taxable property and Polls in said District for the year 1850.
Ordered by the Court that THOMAS NASH be appointed Revenue Commissioner in the 2nd civil District and that he take in and return a List of the Taxable property and Polls in said District for the year 1850.
Ordered by the Court that BENJ. W. PERRY be appointed Revenue Commissioner in the 3rd civil District of Dyer County and that he take in and return a List of the Taxable property and Polls in said District for the year 1850.
Ordered by the Court that SAML McDAVID be appointed Revenue Commissioner in the 4th civil District of Dyer County and that he take in and return a List of the Taxable property and Polls in said District for the year 1850.
Ordered by the Court that ASA FOWLKES be appointed Revenue Commissioner in the 5th civil District of Dyer County and that he take in and return a List of the Taxable property and Polls in said District for the year 1850.
Ordered by the Court that HENRY WYNNE be appointed Revenue Commissioner in the 6th civil District of Dyer County and that he take in and return a List of the Taxable property and Polls in said District for the year 1850.
Ordered by the Court that ISAAC SAWYER be appointed Revenue Commissioner in the 7th civil District of Dyer County and that he take in and return a List of the Taxable property and Polls in said District for the year 1850.
Ordered by the Court that THOS. H. FOWLKES be appointed Revenue Commissioner in the 8th civil District of Dyer County and that he take in and return a List of the Taxable property and Polls in said District for the year 1850.
Ordered by the Court that HENRY P. STRAWN be appointed Revenue Commissioner in the 9th civil District of Dyer County and that he take in and return a List of the Taxable property and Polls in said District for the year 1850.
Ordered by the Court that A. B. STALLCUP be appointed Revenue Commissioner in the 10th civil District of Dyer County and that he take in and return a List of the Taxable property and Polls in said District for the year 1850.
Ordered by the Court that JOHN T. FIELDS be appointed Revenue Commissioner in the 11th civil District of Dyer County and that he take in and return a List of the Taxable property and Polls in said District for the year 1850.
Ordered by the Court that JOHN WYNNE be appointed Revenue Commissioner in the 12th civil District of Dyer County and that he take in and return a List of the Taxable property and Polls in said District for the year 1850.
Ordered by the Court that Court adjourn until court in course.
