Will of Nathaniel A. Rochell – executed May 10, 1905

To all whom it may concern: In the name of God, amen. Knowing the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death and being of sound mind and memory, I, NA Rochell of the county of Crockett and the state of Tennessee do hereby make and publish this- my last will and testament.

  1. It is my will that funeral expenses as well as all other just debts be paid out of any money that may be on hand at the time of my death.
  2. That all of my personal property shall go to and be the property of my beloved wife Sarah Frances Rochell. My will hereto is hereby made absolute.
  3. I furthermore give and bequeath unto my said wife all of the real estate of which I may die seized and possessed. The amount now owned is about one hundred and forty acres – all in the 8th district of said county and state. This she is to have, use and control during her natural life or widowhood. At her death or marriage said property shall go to my daughter, Mollie Louvenia Booth. The ______ absolute and the realty for and during her natural life and at her death the same shall go to the heirs of her body now living or that may hereafter be born to her.
  4. I hereby nominate and appoint my said wife, Sarah as executrix without bond to carry out the provisions of this my last will as I hereby revoke and make void all former wills by me at any time made.

In testament whereof I have hereto affixed my signature in the presence of GA Goodloe and JH Chandler this May the 10th 1905.

NA Rochell


Nathaniel A Rochell – May 16, 1835 to May 14, 1911 married Sarah Frances Burnett on August 21, 1861 in Crockett Co. TN. She was born Sept. 9, 1843 to John & Nancy Burnett. She preceded her husband in death on December 19, 1910. The couple had 2 children, Hezekiah who died in 1875 at the age of 10 and Mollie Louvenia (Crettie) who was born in 1881 and died 1947. Crettie married SA Booth in 1902 and had one daughter, Norris in 1904. She died in 1937 and was never married. Nathaniel, Sarah and Hezekiah are buried at the Koonce Cemetery and SA, Crettie and Norris are buried at Pond Creek.
