The Crockett Times Alamo, Tennessee Thursday, August 26, 1948 Vol. 16 No. 26 Dr. L. D. Thomas--Dr. L. D. Thomas, colored, who practiced medicine in Alamo for over 35 years and for a good portion of that time had offices in Brownsville, died suddenly Saturday while visiting in Carbondale, Ill. He was 62 years of age and a native of Jamaica. Dr. Thomas was a leader among his people and had many friends both white and colored. He had no near relatives in this section. Two cousins, Hortense Adams of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Mildred McCray of Summitt, N.J., are the only known relatives surviving. Funeral services will be held at the colored Methodist Church in Alamo Friday at 2 p.m. The body will be at the church from 6 p.m. Thursday. |
