The Commercial Appeal Dated December 14, 1950. R.F. TANNER. 85, DIES IN CLINIC AT MEMPHIS Was Board Chairman Of Bank Of Alamo RITES WILL BE TODAY Alamo, Tenn., Dec14.--R.F. Tanner, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Alamo, dies Thursday in the Campbell Clinic in Memphis. The death of the 85 year old banker followed a fall at his home Monday just before he was to leave for a board meeting. With Bank Since 1904 Mr. Tanner had been with the bank since 1904. He was president for a number of years, retiring a few months ago to become chair- man. Mr. Tanner was a member of the Methodist Church. He was a business man here for many years. He was once mayor, magistrate and chairman pro tem of the coun- ty court, and chairman of the Elec- tion Commission. He was born in the county and was one of its best known citizens.
Survivors Listed Services will be held at the First Christian Church here Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. U.S. McCaslin officiating, assisted by the the Rev. Charles P. Herndon. burial will be in Alamo Cemetery with Ronk Funeral Home in charge. |
