The Crockett Times Alamo, Tennessee Thursday, March 1, 1951 Vol. 19 No. 1 HERBERT NATHANIEL RAMSEY Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Cairo Church of Christ for Mr. Herbert Nathaniel Ramsey, who died at his home in the Cairo Community Sunday night. R. E. Black officiated, assisted by Rev. E. R. Roach. Burial was in the Cairo cemetery with Beard & Son Undertakers in charge. He was 59, born in Gibson County and was married to Miss Ottie May in 1916. He had been ill for 2 months. Active pallbearers were Revel and Dick Climer, James and Buddy Clements, John Cleek, Jr., and Wells Hargett. Honorary pallbearers were Bunny Wilfong, Al Latting, Dugan Reegan, Lawrence Robbins, Lossie Edwards, Malcolm Jones, Tom Privett, Leslie Vernon and Rob Perry. He leaves his wife; 3 brothers, Walter P. Ramsey of Green Cove, Charleston, West Virginia and Jeff Ramsey of Tiptonville; four sisters, Mrs. Bessie Alford, New Orleans, La., Mrs. Mary Hood, Dyer, Mrs. Mattie Freeman, Carrolton, Miss., and Mrs. Clarence Skipper, Kenner, La. Mr. Ramsey was held in high esteem by all who knew him and leaves a wide circle of friends who are deeply grieved by his passing. (Note: His brother, Willie L. Ramsey, was the third brother who was omitted in the write up.) |
