Alamo Signal Alamo, Crockett County, Tennessee Friday, April 4, 1901 Chestnut Bluff March 31, 1902 About 6 o'clock Saturday evening, March 22nd after a long and painful illness which was borne with genuine Christian fortitude, Mrs. Emily G. Parker yielded her pure spirit to Him who gave it. Her death occured at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Sam Young, and never has the writer seen such genuine sorrow for the death of a dear mother, as was shown by her children as they imprinted the last kiss on those precious, cold lips, and took the last look on that dear face, though wrinkled with the cares of eighty seven years, still to them the sincerest and kindest face they every knew, but in the language of Bro. John R. Farrow, who conducted the burial service, which was beautiful beyond comparison, let us hope they shall meet again, ___ to part no more. The funeral took place from the family residence on Sunday afternoon the 23rd ult., and was attended by representatives from different parts of the vicinity, county, and state. To the heart broken family we extend our deepest, tenderest sympathy in this hour of bereavement. |
