Alamo, Tennessee The Alamo Pilot Thursday, June 4, l931 Mrs. Cora D. Millard, for 50 years a citizen of our community died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ella M. Coop, in Memphis on Tuesday of last week. Mrs. Millard was born in Randolph County, Ga., March 18, 1848, died May 26, 1931, age 83 years, 2 months, 8 days. She was married to Bryan J. Millard, of Clinton, N. C. Dec. 17, 1868, a gallant young Confederate soldier. Together they came to Crockett County some fifty years ago, first making their home in Gadsden, then coming to Coxville to establish a permanent home. She became a member or the Church of Christ at Cox's Chapel in 1885, for 46 years a soldier of the Cross. Mrs. Millard was the mother of five children, three boys, Ike, Ira and the late Jesse Millard, all of whom are dead: two daughters surviving are Mrs. Ella M. Coop of Memphis and Mrs. W. R. Craddock of Bethel Springs. There were 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. The remains were brought from Memphis by Mr. E. E. Bodkin to his funeral parlor in Humboldt until the interment, which occurred Thursday afternoon after a beautiful funeral service by Elder D.D. Woody of Henderson a personal friend of Mrs. Millard and family. She was laid to rest in the Rosamon Cemetery by the side of her husband, who preceded her to the grave some 16 years ago. The many beautiful flowers and the large congregation of friends show the love and esteem held for this good woman by her friends. |
