The Crockett Times Alamo, Tennessee Thursday, June 10, 1948 Vol. 16 No. 15 Mrs. Laura Lonon--Mrs. Laura Smothers Lonon, widow of the late Tom Lonon, died at the home of a niece, Mrs. Mary Pearson, near Bells Monday morning at the age of 75. She died as the result of a stroke suffered a week ago. Mrs. Lonon was a lifetime resident of Alamo and community and a devout member of the First Christian Church. Services were held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Alamo with A. C. Carpenter, minister of Brownsville, officiating. Burial was in Alamo Cemetery with Ronk Funeral Home in charge. Three nephews, Joe Smothers of Dyersburg; Carmack Smothers, Bells; Frazier Smothers, Jackson; two nieces, Mrs. Mary Pearson and Mrs. C. M. Williams, Jr., of Bells are the nearest of kin surviving. She was a sister of the late Oscar Smothers. |
