The Crockett Times Alamo, Tenn. Thursday, February 27, 1947 Thomas Fletcher Harwell Thomas Fletcher Harwell, 80 year old publisher and editor of the Kyle (Tex.) News, died recently, only one week short of the publication date of his book "Eighty Years Under the Stars and Bars." The book deals with biographies of 100 Civil war veterans and others the editor had met during his association with veterans of that war. He was historian general for the United Confederate Veterans. He is survived by his widow and two sons. – Publisher's Auxiliary Mr. Harwell was a native of Friendship and a nephew of the late Joe Harwell and the late L. B. Harwell, Sr., of Friendship. He was a frequent contributor to the columns of this newspaper and his letters about old times in Friendship and the county were read with great interest by old timers here. |
