The Crockett Times Alamo, Tenn. Thursday, August 22, 1946 Maury Chester Gunter Maury Chester Gunter, Yellow Cab driver in Memphis several years, died at 10:10 last night at St. Joseph's Hospital after several months illness. He was 33. Mr. Gunter, who lived at 745 Looney, was born in Maury City, Tenn., and moved to Memphis in 1927. He farmed at Halls, Tenn., for a number of years before 1927 and worked for Midwest Dairy Co., for five years prior to becoming a Yellow Cab driver about 1943. He belonged to the Memphis Yellow Cab Drives Association. He was a member of the Methodist Church at Old Field, Tenn. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Margaret Cooke Gunter, Memphis; his mother, Mrs. Ivy Barcroft Gunter, Maury City; his brother, Letus Gunter, Maury City, and two sisters, Mrs. Ola Mae Slover and Mrs. Lucille Booth of Memphis. National Funeral Home took the body to Cairo, Tenn., for services. Sudbury Funeral Home of Friendship, in charge. From Thursday's Press-Scimitar |
