Mrs. Mary Lee Conley Passes Away

Mrs. Mary Lee Conley, widow of the late Esq. C. H. (Lum) Conley, died at her home near Alamo Saturday morning about 3:00 o'clock. She had been in failing health for several years.

Mrs. Conley was familiarly known to her legion of friends both old and young as "Miss Mary Lee." She was 73 years of age and a member of the First Christian Church in Alamo in which she was very active for many years as Sunday School teacher and leader of the young people's work. She was Chairman of the Crockett County Chapter of the American Red Cross and a leader in many community affairs.

Mrs. Conley was born in Bells and spent her entire life in Crockett County. She was ever energetic and gave her whole soul to any cause that she espoused.

Mrs. Conley carried on long after her frail body would have failed one of less determined will. She made a courageous fight to the very end of the journey.

Surviving are three sons, Walter Conley of Alamo, H. G. Conley of Halls and Claude Conley of Alamo; one sister, Res. R. L. Conley of Alamo and eight grand children.

Funeral services were held at the First Christian Church Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Services were in charge of the pastor, Rev. E. R. Vaughn, and the funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Kenneth McCorkle of Glasgow, Ky. Burial in Alamo cemetery.

Ronk Funeral Home in charge.
