"SERVICES HELD FOR J. G. BLURTON NEAR ALAMO
MONDAY Services were held at the Cypress Methodist Church near Alamo Monday afternoon for Jess G. Blurton of Halls who died at the home of his daughter, Miss Faye Blurton, Sunday night at 11 o'clock. He was ill only a short qhile. He was 70 years old. The Rv. V. E. Banks of Alamo officiatd at the services assisted by the Rev. E. E. Thurmond of Halls. Besides Miss Blurton, he is survived by another daughter, Mrs. James Tucker of Halls; one son, Murray Blurton of Memphis; one brother, Hicks Blurton of Jackson; and two sisters, Mrs. Ella Rixby of Alamo and Mrs. Arthur Boles of Humboldt. Evans and Lasiter were in charge of funeral arrangements." The tombstone at Cypress Cemetery gives his dates as, Aug. 7, 1870 - Dec. 8, 1940. |
