Jelks } } Filed and registered } on the 4th of May 1857 } This Indenture made and entered this 25th of Febuary 1857 between Alsee Reese of the county of Haywood and Stat of Tennessee of the one part and L. M. Jelks of the County and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth, that the said Alsee Reese for and in consideration of the sum of Five hundred and thirty five dollars to him in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained sold aliened and Conveyed unto the said L M Jelks and his heirs and assigns forever a Certain tract or parcel of Land situated lying and being in said County and State aforesaid in Cypress Creek bottom Bought from Lewis Daniel by the said Reese bounded as follows (to wit) Begining at a large white oak the N E corner of an Entry in the name of Ball & Johnson Runs south with said land to a sweet Gum, thence East to a white oak the south west corner of Littleton Medling's tract Thence north with said land to a stake the north west corner of said Land to a stake the north west corner of said Land on the south on the south boundary line of Porters Brassfield tract thence with said Land to the Begining Containing sixty three & 1/3 acres more or less with all and singulor the hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaning to the only proper use benefit and behoof ---- the said L M Jelks his heirs and assigns forever, and Reese doth further bind himself his heirs and representatives to warrant & forever defend the ----- said -------- to the Jelks his heirs and assigns forever against the claim of all and other persons whatever In witness whereof the said Alsey Reese hath set his hand and seal date above written ---------- subscribed --------- Alsee Reese {Seal} his X mark In presence of us ---------------- -------------- } ---------------- -------------- } 68 State of Tennessee } Haywood County } Personally appeared before me Charles P.
