MITCHUM'S WILL
I Robert Mitchum of the County of Carroll & State of
Tennessee Being of sound mind and suffering some affliction of Body &
realizing the uncertainty of human life do hereby declare and publish this my
last will & testament.
first that my burial Expences together will all my
just debts be paid.
Second I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary L. Bigham
wife of Dr. S. Y. Bigham my Negro man Stephen about sixty five years old and my
Negro boy Standhope about Eighteen years old in consideration of which the said
Mary L. & S. Y. Bigham shall pay to James Greer one hundred dollars & to
Emely E. Mitchum one hundred Dollars to be due & paid within three years
after my death.
Third I will and bequeath that my Negro woman Juda &
Boys Alfred & Peter be equally divided Between Anderson H. Smith J. G.
Williamson & my son William C. Mitchum.
In testimony of which I hereunto set my hand and affix my
seal this 14th day of August one thousand Eight hundred & fifty
four.

Sept 4th this day was produced in open court a
paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Robert Mitchum
Decd which was duly proven by the oaths of J. H. Alexander & N. H. Fox
subscribing witnesses and ordered by the court to be duly recorded of which the
above is a copy test.
