JOHN ADAMS' WILL

In the name of God Amen I John Adams of the County of Carroll and State of Tennessee being of a sound mind and usual memory and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life do therefore make ordain and declare this to be my last will and testament.

Item 1st. My body to be decently buried I commend my soul to God
Item 2nd. After all my lawful debts are paid and discharged
Item 3 I give and bequeath to the legal heirs of my son Thomas S. Adams the one half of the land I now live on an situated in the County of Carroll and State of Tennessee after enough being sold to pay my debts to the heirs of my son Rowan who is dead the other half of my hand described above after enough has been sold to pay my debts.
Item 4th. To my son Thomas S. Adams I give and bequeath all my cooking utensils.
Item 5th. I nominate and appoint Samuel Neely to be my Executor to do and perfom all business appertaining to my Estate given under my hand and seal May 16th 1860.

The above written instrument was by the said John Adams in our presence and acknowledged to be his last will and testament we at his request and in his presence signed our names as witness hereto May 16th 1860.
