I have information on these 3 families:
Michael Manning, D.M. Manning, Charles J. Lanier, Thomas & Dionitia Jones.
Cemetery, land tracts, Lanier's last Will and promissory note to his brother,
John H.who lived in Madison Co. Also some census records. They all had land
adjoining near Lavinia, and all are buried in the "Manning" cemetery
in Carroll County between 1847 and 1879. Information in the Cemetery book on
some of these individuals is erroneous. Would like to share my info with
descendants. The cemetery is on my land, and I will be restoring it. Susan E.

My ggGrandfather lived in Carroll co. From
about 1830s to after civil war. His name was William T. Blow, he married Lucy G.
(unknown Maiden name).According to the census in 1850 they owned property in
Carroll County. I am interested in any information on them or their family.
Their Daughter Cornelia Ann, Married my g Grandfather James Franklin stewart in
1848. If any of the Blow family still live in the Carroll co. area or anyone

HILLIARD
I need HELP I can not locate the parents of Mary HILLIARD and her sister Sarah
HILLIARD. Both in 1850 were living in Carroll County with Moses RITTER and his
wife Mary and their son James. Mary was 20 and Sarah was 22 both were born in TN
and their parents were born in North Carolina. Neither Mary nor Sarah married
but both had kids. Mary is my 2nd great grandmother and I am desperately trying
to locate her parents. I have searched all the records that I can think of and
am now pleading for HELP. Thanks so very much for your time and if you know

(Alexander?) White ROWLAND, b 1836 in Carroll Co, TN, married Elizabeth HARPER
in Ballard Co, KY. His parents were Green ROWLAND, b. NC or VA, and Ann Maria
HOBBS, b NC or VA. Ann Maria's father was George HOBBS, b NC, who is listed in
the 1830 Carroll Co. census. I don't know anything about George's wife except

information on these families. Robert, I know is from Henry County, and his

I have limited information on the families of
Jacint COX, John KEE, and Elizabeth Norwood ROSSER of Clarksburg area, 13th
District, Carroll County I would like to share. I am particularly interested in
the descendants of Charles KEE, son of John Kee. He had the following children:

Looking for Information on Rowland and Thomas
Grissom . Brothers who lived in the Marlborough and Vale area about 1800 to 1890
. Rowland was married to Mahala Phillips Buried in Ephesus Cem. Thomas was
married to Anna Burkett , Second wife was Mary Miller Their burial is unknown.
Thomas was the second Postmaster of Vale or Hollow Rock. He was also part in a

I'm new to researching the RUST line. I'm
trying to put this family together. So far I have: Effey Grace RUST married
William PRICE (both of Gibson Co) Effey is the daugter of GeorgeRUST. George was
born 1841-42. If census records can be trusted, her mother was "Lurtie."
I THINK (again going by census records) that George is the son of one John S.
Rust and wife Nancy. I know that the Rust family has been researched way back to
the 1600s. I wonder if my Rust family is connected to Jerimiah Turner RUST of

of Lee PALMER and William (Billy) PALMER, brothers who came from Stanly County,
NC to Carroll County, TN apprx. 1820-1830. Lee PALMER wed Lucy Ora STONE, Ms.
PARKER and Frances WEBB CRIDER and is believed to be buried at the Palmer's
Shelter Methodist Church. Family tradition is that he provided the land for the
church and cemetery about 1858. Billy PALMER wed Nancy HARRIS; they and children
are buried at the Tucker Cemetery near Westport. Lee PALMER my 3rd
greatgrandfather. Much to share on his descendants and ancestors back to 1640
Westchester County, NY. It appears a son of Lee, William Green PALMER wed
Harriett FORBESS died in Carroll County...have been looking for this branch.

I am looking for the locations of the WALL Cemetery and the Mt. Comfort
Cemetery. I believe they are both located in Carroll Co., TN. I have ancestors
that are buried in both of these cemeteries and I would appreciate any help in

Looking for help w/FOLKS families from Carroll co. In the 1850 census
there is listed Eliza FOLKS 37, **Thomas, 4 and Caroline 2. Also living with the
family is James GOOCH, Henderson PINSON, Martha PINSON, Aaron PINSON. I
don't know what, if any, the PINSON and GOOCH individuals have with my FOLKS

I am looking for any descendants of Stephen PATE (c. 1765/70--1839) and his wife
Honor HENEGAN-SWEENY of Richmond Co., NC and Carroll o., TN. The PATEs
came to Tennessee during the 1830's. Some of them were in Weakley Co., and
some in Carroll County. The children and grandchildren included Elizabeth
Pate m. Nathaniel HAWTHORNE, Hannah Pate m. Elias ELY, Elijah S. PATE
(1791-1880), Stephen S. PATE, Elisha S. PATE (b. 1801), Samuel D. PATE (b. c.
1810), Nathaniel PATE, Richmond L. PATE and Thoroughgood PATE. I need help
determining which of these were children and which were grandchildren of
Stephen. I think Tennessee records may be of some assistance there. I
think there also may have been other heirs. My ancestor was Samuel PATE

Searching for my grandmother's kin.
Joe MUSTAIN married Betty POOL(E) and had William Ernest, George, Wiley, Lucy,
Dave and Buddy MUSTAIN. They lived in Huntingdon <Carroll Co.> and
Dyersburg. Newt HENDRIX married Mary GIBSON and had Lela, Cass, Elipe, Ida and
Lillie. They too lived in the Carroll County area. All of my gggrandparents
allegedly came to Tennessee from Arkansas, but I can't find them anywhere yet.
Any help identifying these people would be appreciated. The time period is
1880's to present.

I am looking for James Micaiah HOUSE
and his wife Emily MAYFIELD. James was the son of John HOUSE and Mary INGE. I
think that James was born in Carrol County but I'm sure it was Tennessee. He
moved to Arkansas in 1854 then back to Tenn. and then back to Ark. in 1870. He
was a Methodist Minister. His uncle was Micajah House of Sumner Co. I know that
his wife Emily was part Indian but I don't know where they met or were married.

I am looking for information on JAMES
G MORRIS, who I believe to be the son of HARVEY MORRIS. James married MAHALA
BENSON, the dau. of LEVIN BENSON. He was in the 1840 census in Carrol Co. He was
in the 1850 and 1860 census in Henderson Co. He died Before the spring term of
court in 1861. I can't find where he or his wife are burried.

I am looking for information on HARVEY
MORRIS who is the son of AARON MORRIS, and the brother of JOSEPH M. MORRIS.
Harvey was born in N.C., cc1790. He came to Carrol Co. from New Bern N.C. around
1830 on a wagon train with his brother Joseph, and the settled in Shilo around
Birdsong creek. He had two son named JOHN and JIM. I belive Jim to be my ggg g/f
JAMES G MORRIS. It was said that Harvey had scouted for Andrew Jackson, any he
had been in this part of Tn. before. Harvey's wife was named MARY ?

McKendree WHITE. He was born in Bedford Co in 10/12/1838. He moved to Carroll
County in 1890. Have a possible father's name of John Wesley WHITE, but I cannot
confirm this.

I am looking for desendents or anyone
who knows about Brickell B.(dob 1807 in NC) and Cartherine BOWDEN (dob 1814 NC).
They are listed on the 1840 and 1850 Carroll County Census'. They are on the
1860 Henry county census. They came from the Franklin County, North Carolina
area sometime between 1838 and 1840. Their children are: Julia A. BOWDEN (b.
1832), Westduck BOWDEN WATSON (b. 1834), Adalada BOWDEN CONYERS (b. 1838),
Sumner BOWDEN (b. 1843),Nimrod BOWDEN (b. 1848), Benjamin BOWDEN( b. 1850),
Macon BOWDEN (b. 1859). I have a picture of Brickell and Catherine taken in
Paris, TN. I also have a picture of my gg grandmother, Westduck BOWDEN WATSON.
Would be happy to share pics and info with other relatives.

Does anyone have access to the tax
records of Carroll Co or the land records c1840? I have an ancestor, A.W.Taylor
who died in Gibson Co c1847 but was in the 1840 Carroll Co census. I need to
find out this mans 1st name so I can trace him back to NC. The only records I
have refer to him as A.W.Taylor. If anyone can look this up and tell me what
years he paid taxes in Carroll Co, possibly 1832-1840's, and when he bought his
land I would be grateful. Hopefully a legal description of the land will allow
me to find out if he used his Full name when purchasing the land. If so, then
maybe I can find out where he's buried as well. Any help would be greatly

James William HELMS b. 1865 in Weakley
Co., TN married Alice Isidora HUGHES b. 1869 in Huntington, Carroll Co., TN in
Carroll Co., TN on 2 April 1884. Seeking information on both families. Need
parents of both, etc. Only other info I have is 1880 Weakley Co. census showing
James W. HELMS living with Carrol and Narcissus GIVENS family as a hired hand.
Alice's father may have been named J.A. HUGHES. Family moved to AR early 1900's.

Tapley & Prudence Echols MAYS
& children, Moses, Edward, William Tapley, James Green, Sally & Nancy
came to Dyer Co from Pittsylvania Co VA in 1845 with Prudence's parents &
siblings, Nancy, Win & Nowlin. Prudence's mother was a Terry. Tapley's
mother was Leety Ingram. Ed died soon. Moses raised hogs in Gibson Co. William
Tapley m. Susan BREWER CURTIS, served CSA, captured, gave oath, disch. 1866.
Prudence died 1865, have not located grave. Ed buried Ed in little graveyard in
edge of Gibson Co., have not located it. Wm then m. young Fannie REED, who soon
died. Finally, moved to Carroll Co., m. Ida Kincannon, had Nelson, Drewry, James
& Lois. After his death in 1925 Ida moved with Lois & 2 boys &
Drewry to NYC to live with Nelson. James stayed. James Green m. (1) Louisa
EASON, had Mosella & Belle, m. Mary Lou PARK, had Ernest Tapley, Edmond,
Hannah, Sally, & Eula. Searching DRURY/DREWRY, NOWLIN, WINN, TERRY, INGRAM,
ECHOLS & marriage of Sally & Nancy. DEATON & SLAYTON are
possibilities.

I am hoping that someone can help me
in trying to research my kinship as stated above. This letter was written by my
uncle WIllian Henry GILBERT of Detroit Michigan several years ago. This appears
to be the history of the Gilbert family in Carroll County TN. In the 1800's Aron
GILBERT Sr. son of Ike and Becky (Thomas) GILBERT, grandson of Brice and Louisa
GILBERT was born. The date was October 29, 1881. This was 3 miles south of
McKenzie, TN. The GILBERT name was given to us around 1850, when Benjamin Prince
GILBERT brought Brice GILBERT who was a slave. Because of his versatilities he
paid $2000.00 for him.
Brice GILBERT, married Lousia GILBERT in the 1850's. She was a slave and the
property of Benjamin P. and Mary Louise GILBERT, by virtue of an inheirtance
from Mary Chilton grandmother of Mary Louise GILBERT. Brice and Louisa GILBERT
had two childern. Ike born 1859, died 1942. Martha, born 1861, died 1897. Ike
married Becky (Thomas) GILBERT in 1879. She was the daughter of George and
Martha Thomas

the family of William M. LYTLE who came to Carroll Co TN about 1854 from MO,
county unknown,when his wife, Jane Wootson?, died. In Jun, 1854, he married
Delphia STOKER, dau of Robert Stoker. He immediately abandoned Delphia who was
pregnant with their son William Robert LYTLE, and his 4 children from his first
marriage: Jesse Josiah Lytle b 1846 MO; Frances Elizabeth Lytle b 1849 MO;
Georgia Ann Lytle b 1851 MO; Sarah Bell Lytle b 1854 MO. Where did the Lytles
live in MO? What was William M.'s connection to George LYTLE of Carroll Co TN?
He did not leave his children in George's charge. The two girls Francis and
Geogia Ann were left in the home of William Riley ROGERS. Where did William M.
Lytle go? All of William M. Lytle's children, and his second wife, moved to
Parker Co, Texas between 1875-1900. Will exchange and correspond. Greatly
appreciate any assistance.
