Mammoth Clover
We were presented with a stalk of clover from the farm of CAPT. S. W. HAWKINS
in this vicinity. It was 5 feet 4 inches in length and yet Old Mr. FOGY says
clover won't grow here.
The Masonic Record, a new Masonic magazine, published by JOHN FRIZZELL & Co.

Run Off—The accommodation train on the Nashville and North Western R. R ran
off the track Monday near Johnsonville, killing a brakeman and fracturing the
leg of a little son of the late COLONEL NAPIER. The boy has since died.
Runaway and Smashed Up—On Saturday last as MR. NEWMAN, MR. BURCH and MR.
GRIZZARD were driving in a buggy from MeLemoresville to Trezevant, the horses
took fright and started to run. Grizzard jumped out and was unhurt. Burch
jumped out, but hurt his hip. Newman remained in the buggy until it was
smashed, but Newman was unhurt.

Ku Klux Again
… arrest of two men, BALLEW and ANDREWS, for breaking in a Negro's house in
the lower portion of the county. Suspecting an attempt for their rescue,
SHERIFF NEELY had guarding the jail a squad of five or six men. Last night a
body of armed horsemen, who went to the Johnson House, compelled two men from
the hotel, MR. FOOTE and MR. NEWMAN, to conduct them to the jail. Their
numbers overwhelmed the guards at the jail and released Ballew and Andrews….
