Comments:  DORSEY - Looking for the Dorsey Family from Mossey Creek Plantation.  I am trying to trace three Confederate deserters from the 62nd N.C. Infantry - Elisha H., Andrew and Anderson Dorsey. Speculation is that they lived with relatives at the plantation after deserting.  Elisha changed his name to Harvey Alexander Kelley in the 1870's.  He was married to Louisa J. Bouknight and had a son John A., daughter Mary D. ( born in Ga.) and son David Walter ( born in Ga.) Need information on this family and particularly Elisha / Harvey and Louisa.

Comments:  KIMBRELL - My grandparents were born and married in Cleveland, and had their kids there.  Not too much information was passed on, since they divorced somewhat bitterly.  Here's what I know:  1.  Grandfather:  Leonard H (Hamilton? Harrison?) Kimbrell, born March 8, 1883 or 1884 in Cleveland, father Leonard, mother Fannie Lundon.  Nickname was Dock.  2.  Grandmother:  Maggie Ione Burke, born July 15, 1893 in Cleveland.  Father James Jasper Burke, mother Carry Merrit. 3.  Family name is spelled Kimbrell or Kimbrel or Kimbell, depending on the document.  4.  Leonard and Maggie had 4 children, all born in Cleveland:  Fannie, Raymond A., Lela and James Richard (my dad, who may have actually been born in Athens).   This whole line seems to have dropped out of nowhere, but apparently they must have lived in the Cleveland area for a long time:  30 - 40 years anyway.  Is there anyone who can help? Thanks.....Pat

Comments:  ENGLAND - I am searching for information about the Englands who lived in the area which is now Helen, GA.  Specifically, I am trying to determine the father of Joseph England.  Joseph England owned land lot #39 which is now a part of Helena and had a wife, Matilda.  There is speculation that a Charles England (a Revolutionary war veteran) was his father.  Charles lived near the Tugaloo River for a while but came to Helen in about 1826.  Joseph died in 1831 in Habersham Co.
Thank you. Terri Lindquester

Comments:  BROWN -  My sister and I are trying to trace our father's family. Our father was Riley Sheppard Brown of Cordele Ga.; his father who died in the early 30's was John Daniel Brown and John Daniel's father or grandfather was Daniel. Dad told us that his father 's family came to Georgia by way of North Carolina in the early 1800's, that they came to the U.S. from Scotland; I was so excited when I lucked into your site.  We would be most appreciative of any information you could give us about your Daniel Brown.  The other interesting fact is that my grandmother who was Charity Celestea Mathews was supposed to have some Cherokee blood. It all seems to fit but I know there are many Daniel Browns in Georgia! Thanks for any help.  Judy Brown Brickner and Barbara Brown Hootman both of New Jersey

Comments: CHAPMAN - I am researching my history.  My great-great grand father was William Henry Chapman and my great-great grand mother was Mary Lousia Chapman.  She was born a Cherokee Indian.  Legend has it the H. Chapman was among the troops that carried the Cherokees out of the SE.  Her family contracted small pox and he helped to heal them.  She was from the Wolf Clan.  I have two references to here given name:  Ya-We-Ya-Da and Ya-Tee-Ha-Do.  I also have a number 054431, I don't know if it's the Champan Roll, Siler Roll or Dowles..... Can you point me in the right direction?  I'm searching with one wing and a pray.
Please help me with this search.  I do have other information regarding the events.  You can e-mail me back at JLP404@aol.com.  My name is Lawana, my great grand parents marriage was not recognized, because it was against the moral judgments of the majority for a white person to marry an Indian.  My family is from Clarksville, Cornelia, ...Mountain folks.  My grand father is in the process of passing on.  He's 86 years old.  I want to do this for him and for my family.  It's time to stand up.
Evidently, Morning Star's father gave her and her sister to W. Champan after he helped them through the Small Pox.  He brought them back to GA from somewhere between Ga and Ok.  He found families to adopt them.  Chapman's wife dies a couple of years later and he marries  Morning Star.  .  Abracadabra.... the family tree.
I look forward to hearing from you,  Lawana Peterson

Ervin.  He died in Texas when my dad was only 10 and I know little about him.  I know he was born in Georgia and I discovered his brother Joseph Dillard Ervin was born in White County.  In looking at your 1860 census I discovered his mother Saphrona Louise Mullinax.  Her father was Elbert Mullinax a farmer in White County.  I'm trying to discover Alex's correct name it is one way on a 1900 census and E.D. on his marriage certificate.  Where was he born?  Who was his father? and why did they move to Texas.  Any help you can give me will be appreciated.  Emmie

Comments:  ALLEN - My father's family, ALLEN, is from Cleveland and I've been going there my whole life to visit my grandmother before she died and still to visit three of his four sisters.  I've just started tracing his geneology (there was a family bible/record, but it was lost) and I'm hitting some dead ends.  My line is as follows:  George E. Allen, my grandfather, married to Nellie Mae Sims; Marion Cicero or MC Allen, my ggrandfather, married to "Lou" Densmore.  I'm wondering if anyone has more info on MC or his ancestors, or if we have a match somewhere? By the way, I had such fun reading through the queries and recognizing the names of places people had asked about - Albert Reid road was named for my uncle Albert, and my aunt Ruby (Albert Reid's wife) still lives out there. Small world, huh? :)

Comments: CANNON MARTIN CASH - I have not seen the census, but the 1870 census index for Georgia lists a Mary Cannon, age 73, born in South Carolina. Is she the "Polly" Martin who married Henry Cannon in Clarke County, GA on 24 February 1808? I think that this couple could be my gg grandparents. Also is she the same Polly/Mary Cannon who was listed in the DeKalb County census records for 1830, 1840 and 1850? Did her only daughter marry a man named CASH? Any help will be greatly appreciated. I have information on his father/uncle?, Cecil Monroe Clayton, and am attempting to establish the link between them. John Kimsey was married to Mamie Cannon (who re-married to Jessie Hise after John Kimsey's death) I have no birth or death records on John Kimsey or Mamie Cannon. Cecil Monroe Clayton was born July 25, 1857 in Spartanburg, SC and died February 7, 1919 in White Co. GA. He was married to Rozine Caroline Miller ( born November 3, 1856 in White Co. GA.) Any help on the relationship of John Kimsey Clayton and Cecil Monroe CLayton will be greatly appreciated.
