"The
Cleveland Courier" - Jan. 23, 1931 - "Mr. John W.
Allen, aged 86, of old age
after an illness of several days, died Tuesday. He
was buried at Tesnatee
Wednesday afternoon."
John Wesley Allen
was 86 when he died, but his death certificate says Jan. 19 and
his tombstone says he died Jan. 12. Also the
cemetery is wrong. He is buried at
Mt. Pleasant Methodist Cemetery with his second wife Sarah
White who died March 3, 1933. The marker says
"Erected by son O.R. Allen". Ollie was his son
by Sarah.
Is this the right obituary? Was there another John
W. Allen who died there
in Jan. 1931?
