John Worner (Cush) Wells, Memphian, who died age 63.

    John Worner (Cush) Wells, who was a maintenance engineer for the
City Engineering Department 42 years before his retirement two years ago,
died at 6:50 last night at Baptist Hospital a few hours after he was admitted.
He was 63.
    Mr. Wells was a lifelong resident of Memphis and was a street and
sewer contractor before going to work for the city.  He was a Presbyterian and
Member of Angerona Masonic Lodge.  His home was at 2001 Evelyn.  He
had complained of indigestion and shortness of breath Monday but his death
was unexpected until he was stricken yesterday.
    He leaves his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Hopper Wells of Memphis; his daughter,
Mrs. G. E. Palfrey, Jr. of St. Louis, and his sister, Mrs. George W. Handwerker,
Sr., of Memphis.
    A brother, Dave Wells, county tax assessor for many years, died in 1937.
    Services at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow at J. W. Norris Funeral Home, Dr. A. D.
Foreman, Jr. officiating.  Masonic services at the grave in Forest Hill.
