Harrison Family Cemetery
Shelby County, Tennessee

My family settled inShelbyCounty in 1835.  The land they owned was located in theHolmes Rd/Lamar Ave/Germantown Rd area and there is a family cemetery located in a residential area just off what is nowRiverdale Rd. (I think the name of the road changed fromGermantown Rd. orRiverdale Rd.).  Buried in that cemetery are my g-g-grandfather and g-g-grandmother, a g-g-uncle who never married and the husband and infant daughter of a g-g-aunt.  Vandals have damaged the grave stones and it appears that some are now missing.  The stones as they were in good condition read:
 

1. Cary Harrison, Born Lunenberg Co., Virginia 1803, died 1865
2. Elizabeth S. Harrison, Born Jan. 29, 1918, Died Aug. 15, 1898
3. A. S. Harrison, Sept. 18, 1861, Apr. 20, 1911 – Footstone reads “Albert”
4. My Husband, J. W. Rowlett, Nov. 15, 1838, Sept 22, 1881, Masonic Emblem, JWR
5. Maggie W., daughter of J.W. and M.E. Rowlett, Mar. 18, 1867, Jan. 13, 1868
