Submitted by Wanda Bruce tobias3@idt.net =========================================== Gibson County Tennessee Will's May Term 1861 RICHARD WELCH'S Will In the presence of God, I RICHARD WELCH being of sound mind and wishing to dispose of my estate do make this my last Will & Testament revoking all others. 1st. I give to my beloved wife JULIA E. WELCH the tract of land in which I now live and I also give her all of my household & kitchen furniture 2 good plow horses 10 head of good stock hogs 1 wagon & harness 2 plows also the following we give to wit: a negro man name of WESLEY a negro woman named MARTHA & her 3 children FRANK ALLIS & TOM the above property is to go to my wife during her life if she does not marry again if she does marry again the property above mentioned is to go back at the time of her marriage to my children & grandchildren. I further give to my wife Four Hundred Dollars the amount she gave to me at our marriage to dispose of as she pleases as I have no claim on that whatsoever. 2nd . I give to my daughter NANCY NETTLES a negro woman by the name RETTER also 25 acres of land on the east of JUDGE MOORE'S spring branch on the east side of said creek this I consider as a full share of my estate with what I have heretofore given her. She is not to have anything more from my Estate here after. 3rd. I give to my daughter MARY TYSON one hundred dollars in cash and she is to have nothing more from my estate as I consider that she has drawn a full share. 4th. I give to my grandchildren by my daughter JANE GARDNER a negro man by the name of ALLICK. 5th. I give to my daughter MARSAELLES PAYNE my Boy SAMUEL to hold during her life then go to the heirs of her body. 6th. I considered what I have given to my daughter BETSY KIMBRO a full share of my estate up to this time. 7th. I have given to my grandchildren heirs of JAMES WELCH a full share of my estate up to this time. 8th. I give to the heirs of my son HENRY WELCH in addition to what have heretofore given their father a negro man named BEN. 9th. I will that all land and other property not otherwise disposed of be sold at public sale and then proceeds be equally divided among all of my grandchildren except the children of my daughter NANCY NETTLES to whom I have given a full share of my estate heretofore .
