Dearest Husband
Feb. 28, 1853
It is with exciting great pleasure that I
have taken my seat this morning to write to you; for I can assure you that I am
very anxious to hear from you. Oh I do miss you so much. I want to know
how you get along; if you had a pleasant trip of it or not. You are well aware
of the interest I fill for you. My health is improving rapidly. I fill a great
deal better this morning than usual.
I presume you wish to know of Trenton. I will try to give you some that will interest you. Mr. Taleaferro, Brother Bartley, Cousin William Chrisp, Mr. Sharp, Mr. Carthel and Berry Blakemore were all elected are you not astonished to hear that Berry beat the old gentleman. You ought to be here to congratulate him; as he took so much _____ pains to rejoice at your defeat.
Miss Betty Hite is to be married this coming
Thursday night; she is a going to give a considerable large wedding. They expect
to invite the town people.
Miss Sally Seat, Miss Mildred Nimmo are the bride's maid. Miss Lizzie Hays is to
be married in two weeks from this time. It is thought to be true; it is to Mr.
Sid Harris. Berry and John Hassell were here the night you left. They said
that they heard it and they believed it was so although it was a very unsuitable
___. There is one thing that I wish you would get for me a nice fine tucking
cane. Sister says you may get those curling tongs that you were speaking to her
about. One was for little girls hair, They are old curling tongs.
I believe I have told you all the news of Trenton of much interest. Mr. Hatchett
make hast and come home for you have no idea how much _______ of mind I have
suffered for you know how many dangers you are subject to. I believe you are
very cautious; this is one thing that helps me.
The family sends their best love to you and
wishes to see you very much. Sarah says she wishes you would notice the
style of riding caps for she wishes to make me. Mr. Hatchett you must forgive
this hand writing spelling And punctuating because I am in quit hurry. I expect
you visiting though many mountains, hills and rivers separate yet I can say of a
truth that you are often thought of by me. I am looking forward with anxious
anticipation
to the time when we finally embrace each other again. Farewell dearest husband.
I am your devoted and affectionate wife
