MITCHELL-HOWELL
Mr. George R. Mitchell and Miss Effie T. Howell were united in marriage
Thursday evening, Jan. 31, at the home of Esquire Needham, in the 24th
District. Mr. Mitchell has recently been in the insurance business at
Munford, Tenn., but is a citizen of this district. The bride is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Howell, who have been living in this city
for some time, but recently moved back to their farm a few miles west of
town.

MITCHELL-SAVAGE
"Miss ELLEN SAVAGE was united in marriage, at 10:30 o'clock Sunday morning to Mr. G.
W. MITCHELL, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. G. M. SAVAGE. Sweet peas, geraniums and
roses beautified the parlor, while ferns lent their air of convention. A bank of
these was attractive with a canopy of vines rising from the wealth of greenery as a
decoration for the occasion. The bridal party entered to the strains of Mendelssohns
Wedding March, played by Mrs. JAS. A. ALFORD. During the saying of the service
"Visions of Love" was softly played.
The bride has many friends, while the groom is an enterprising young farmer.
After the ceremony which was beautifully and impressively performed by Rev. W. H.
WILLIAMS, pastor of the Baptist church, congratulations were tendered."

neighborhood, were married last Sunday at 10 o'clock, by Rev. R. L. KEATHLEY, while
sitting in their buggy at his gate. They were accompanied\ by Prof. J. B. HILL and
wife, and Mr. CLARENCE HALFORD and sister, BONNIE. May their future be as rich and

WILLIE WILKES eloped to TRENTON, where in the presence of a hasty gathered crowd
they were made husband and wife. The bride who has a host of friends and
well-wishers, is the lovely and loving daughter of H. M. WILKES. The groom is a
nice, industrious, sober young man. We extend congratulations."

"One of the prettiest of home weddings occurred on last Wednesday night, July 28, at
9 o'clock, when Mr. BEN KING and Miss JESSIE NEEDHAM were united in marriage at the home
of Mr. E. M. GAULDIN, Rev. J. W. C. FAIN performing the ceremony in his usual impressive
manner. The bride was gowned in a beautiful white silk princess with insertion and
lace. Miss NEEDHAM is one of GIBSON COUNTY'S most beautiful young ladies. She
has many friends who wish her a long and happy life. Mr. KING is a young gentleman
of many good qualities, and full worthy of the prize he has won."

"Mr. OMAR YATES and Miss ESSIE MITCHELL were quietly united in the holy bonds of
wedlock last Sunday afternoon at a dwelling house near CHINA GROVE, Rev. FELTS
officiating. They were accompanied by Mr. LUTHER JOHNS and Miss ETHEL TOLL.
The groom is one among RUTHEROFRD'S most esteemed and moral young men. The bride is
the lovely and lovable daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. R. MITCHELL. ESSIE is a good
Christian girl and to know her means to love her. The bride with her smiling face
and perfect figure adorned in a beautiful gown of blue silk made a picture that will long
dwell in the memory of those who love her. Their many friends wish them a long and
happy voyage down life's sea with only enough sorrows to keep them in mutual love with God
and each other until death shall burst assunder their most sacred earthly tie and their
spirits be transplanted in Heaven."

Milan, Tenn.--"WILLIAM CANADA and Mrs. SARAH WILLIAMS were quietly married yesterday
afternoon at the home of the bride, two miles west of here."
OSBORNE--RECORD
Trenton, Tenn.--"Dr. and Mrs. J. F. OSBORNE announce the approaching marriage of
their daughter, MARYE, to R. H. RECORD, of PARIS, TEXAS. The wedding will take place
at their country place, TANGLEWOOD HOME, April 16.

ODOM--SEAT
Humboldt, Tenn., Dec. 19--"It was learned here today that J. B. ODOM and Miss
FERN SEAT, both of Humboldt, were married in Memphis on Sunday. The wedding was in
the nature of a surprise to the friends of both the bride and groom in Humboldt, where
they are both popular. The groom is one of the leading politicians and business men
of this section, and the bride is a daughter of W. B. SEAT, one of Gibson County's
wealthiest citizens."
TRENTON COUPLE MARRIED 63 YEARS
MITCHELL JONES, Ninety, and His Wife, Seventy-Eight, Celebrate Wedding Anniversary
Trenton, Tenn.--Dec. 19--"Mr. and Mrs. MITCHELL JONES of TRENTON, yesterday
celebrated their sixty-third marriage anniversary. Mr. JONES was 90 years old Dec.
12, and Mrs. JONES 78 September 8. They have ten living children, six sons and four
daughters. Mr. and Mrs. JONES have both wonderfully retained their youth and vigor.
Only the past year or so have they shown signs of old age creeping on. Both
are fond of reading and spend most of their time in that way. Their home has always
been a hospitable one, where
friends and relatives loved to gather. No doubt many of the older preachers of the
Memphis conference can recall with pleasure the days and nights spent in their home, when
they were on TRENTON circuit, and well remember the good things with which their table was
always ladened, for Mr. JONES (Uncle MITCH as most people call him) was a bountiful
provider, and Mrs. JONES took pleasure in seeing that her table was rivaled by none.
These grand old people have lived good and useful lives and their many friends hope to see
them live to celebrate their diamond wedding."

SMITH-MANGRUM
"Mr. ALEX VEITCH SMITH of MEMPHIS and Miss DOVIE MANGRUM of this city were united in
marriage, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. MANGRUM, Main street,
this city, on Dec. 25, 1912 at 11 o'clock a.m., Elder E. P. SMITH of MARTIN performing the
ceremony. The bridal couple took the afternoon train for their home in MEMPHIS.
Mr. SMITH holds a position as teller in a MEMPHIS bank and is a splendid young man.
The bride is a most excellent young lady who has been making her home in MEMPHIS
for several years."
TAYLOR--WILKES
"Mr. ASA M. TAYLOR, a young educator living one mile East of Rutherford, and Miss
ZADA WILKES, one mile West of Rutherford, were happily united in marriage on Dec. 22,
1912, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. M. WILKES. The couple have
many friends who wish them well."
WILKES--EVANS
"At the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. EVANS, near Mt. OLIVE, on Monday,
Dec. 23, 1912, Mr. MODDIE WILKES of near OLD BETHLEHEM was united in marriage to Miss ETTA
EVANS. Mr. WILKES is a young farmer of highly respected parents, and his bonny bride
is one of the communities most beautiful young ladies. Their many friends wish them
a happy married life."

"Mr. HOWARD PATTERSON, a young farmer of near this city, and Miss MATTIE GILES of
this city were united in marriage on Christmas day at DYER. We learn they will
reside here for the present.
WILLIS--CROUSE
Mr. LeROY WILLIS, a young farmer near town, and Miss RUTH CROUSE of near DYER were united
in marriage on Christmas day."
HALLIBURTON--BOYETT
"Mr. I. C. HALLIBURTON, a prosperous farmer one mile West of RUTHERFORD, and Mrs.
MYRTLE BOYETT of OBION County were united in marriage at the home of the bride on
Christmas day. After the marriage they came to the home of the groom, where they
will reside."
From GOOD LUCK---"Miss BEAULAH BUGG and Mr. BEN THARP were married Dec. 22, and Miss
SUSSIE (SUSIE?) OLIVER and Mr. TOM WEBB were quietly married at Mr. COUCHES (COUCH'S?)
Dec. 26."
THE 23RD DISTRICT--"On the evening of Dec. 16th DAN SAMPLE and Miss MAYBELLE McCOLLUM
were married at the home of the bride's father, DOC McCOLLUM, near CHINA GROVE, Rev.
PHELPS officiated. After spending several days with home folks they left for
CARUTHERSVILLE, MO., where Mr. SAMPLE has a good position with the WATER-PIERCE OIL
CO."--------------"TOM WEBB of near WALNUT GROVE and Miss SUSIE OLIVER, well
known young people, were married last Friday."
RUTHERFORD REGISTER--Friday, June 13, 1913
McDANIEL--KING
"On last Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock, Mr. THERON McDANIEL and Miss EUNICE KING
were united in marriage by Rev. J. T. BAGBY, pastor of the M. E. Church. The wedding
was a very quiet affair, only a few relatives and close friends of the contracting parties
being present.
Mr. and Mrs. McDANIEL left on the 7:48 train that evening for RUTHERFORD where they will
reside.
The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. GEO. P. KING and has for several years
been connected with the CUMBERLAND TELEPHONE CO., as operator, where she made a large
number of friends. The groom is a prominent young man of RUTHERFORD, TENN., where he
is assistant manager of the CUMBERLAND TELEPHONE CO.

Following is a marriage report
for SMITH-DRAPER appearing in the Friday, October 14, 1921 Rutherford Register.
The marriage report was excerpted from The Wheeler County Texan because the
marriage took place in Texas, but they came to Rutherford to live because
the groom was originally from Rutherford.
SMITH-DRAPER
"In the presence of only a few intimate friends, SHIRLEY
DRAPER, formerly of this place, but now of RUTHERFORD, Tennessee, and Miss
JOSEPHINE SMITH of this city were united in the holy bonds of wedlock at
WELLINGTON last Friday evening, Rev. Huckaby, pastor of the Methodist church at
Wellington, officiating.
The groom was for several months a book-keeper at the Frank
Wofford store at this place, but returned to his old home in Tennessee last
summer. During his short stay here he made many warm friends. He is
a very able and energetic young business man and a valuable asset to any town.
The bride is a daughter of Mrs. W. B. SMITH of this place,
and has resided here all her life. She was one of the most popular girls
of the town, and was a member of the graduating class of 1920 of the Shamrock
high school. For the past several months she has acted in the capacity of
assistant post master at the local post office. The estimable young couple
left Sunday night for Rutherford, Tenn., where they will make their permanent
home. The best wishes of their many friends will accompany them.--THE
