A Note from the Contributor
by Jere Cox

I, Jere R.Cox worked for Malden Wholesale, Malden Missouri selling groceries to restaurants, schools, health care etc..   My route was combined with the eastern route so I had to leave Jackson,Tn. about 11:00 and go to Lexington,Tn.

I was making some cold calls and happened upon a restaurant east of Lexington that featured a buffet at noon. So, I introduced myself to the lady that owned the restaurant along with her husband. They started buying soon and each week we got to know each other a little better. Finally, Bill, the owner,  asked me where I lived, I told him Milan, Tn. on Oakhill Dr.   He stated he had a daughter living in Milan on Oakhill Dr.

In the next few weeks, sales increased.   Then, upon arriving, I got my lunch and sat down to eat.  He came to my table, told me to wait a minute, went next door to a storage building and retrieved a book.  He laid it upon the table and asked had I ever seen one of these?  I repiled, only a copy at the Gibson Co. Library at Trenton,Tn.   He then said, it is yours. He bought it at a flea market for 50 cents.

After some years, I thought about putting it on loan in the local library, but for some reason, never did.  Then, I saw where Eddy Clark mentioned he had seen one somewhere. I wrote Eddy e-mail and told him about mine.   He promised to come by and scan it someday but never showed up.

After quite a while, I wrote him again and he seemed to believe I was talking about some other book, because I referred to it as Greene's History of Gibson Co.    Finally, I scanned a page and sent him.  He finally accepted that I had the correct book and started talking about putting it on the webpage.

The rest is Gibson Co. Tennessee web site history!  Jere Cox and Eddy Clark so generously scanned it and submitted it to the Gibson County Tn web site.  They loaded the image files and then gave their permission for our volunteers to subscribe it.  These are the pages to follow....................................................................
Feel Free to Email them BOTH and thank them for this tremendous resource!
