FRIDAY JANUARY 8, 1932

DEATH--The entire community was shocked at the noon hour Tuesday when it learned of the death of one of its most beloved women, Mrs. Annie SIDWAY, widow of the late Sam N. SIDWAY, publisher of the State Gazette for 37 years under the ownership of the late Col. Tom W. NEAL. Mrs. SIDWAY was born at Ripley 75 years ago, the daughter of Dr. Abner and Annie BENTON, pioneers of West Tennessee. She came here as a young girl. While living in the home of her sister, Mrs.Tom W. NEAL, she met and married Sam SIDWAY. She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Will R. BURKE, Mrs .Jennie McMANESS, Misses Anna and Minnie Alice SIDWAY, all of this city; and Mrs. D. Heber JOHNSTON, of Memphis. She is also survived by a brother, Ed. E. BENTON, former editor of the Trenton-Herald Democrate. (Dyersburg Gazette)
