Christine Batts

Christine (Pritchett) Batts, 86, of Martin, sister of Polly Lowrance of Union City, died Sept. 9, 2004, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin, with the Rev. Larry Kendrick officiating. Burial will follow in East Side Cemetery in Martin. Friends may call at the funeral home after 11 a.m. Saturday.

The family requests that memorials be made to Martin First United Methodist Church building fund.

She was born May 13, 1918, in Dyer County, daughter of the late Thomas Edward and Emma Lee (Reasons) Pritchett. She was the widow of Monroe Batts and was a member of Martin First United Methodist Church.

She had attended the former University of Tennessee Junior College in Martin and was a graduate of Bethel College. She was a retired teacher at Martin Elementary School and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Bob Reavis Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star.

She was also preceded in death by four brothers, T.E. "Gene" Pritchett, E.B. 'Bud" Pritchett, E.C. Pritchett and George H. Pritchett; and her sister, Mozella Finley.
