MARRIAGE LICENSE

"The world was sad; the garden was a wild;
And man, the hermit, sighed--till woman smiled."

TO ANY ONE LEGALLY AUTHORIZED TO SOLEMNIZE MARRIAGES:

               This is to authorize you to solemnize the RITE OF MATRIMONY between
       Geo Jennings       and       Georgia Schoofield
of your County, agreeably to an Act of the General Assembly in such cases made and provided: Provided, that there is no lawful cause to obstruct the Marriage for which this License is desired; otherwise these shall be null and void, and shall not be accounted any license or authority for you or either of you for the purposes aforesaid, more than if the same had never been prayed or granted.
       Given under my hand at the Clerk's Office in said County this 24 day of Jan, 1916.

That we, George Jennings and ___________
of County of Dyer and State of Tennessee, are held and firmly bound unto the State of Tennessee, in the sum of Twelve Hundred and Fifty Dollars, to which payment, well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators, and each and every one of us, jointly and severally, by these presents.
       Witness our hands and seals this 24 day of Jan, 1916

The Condition of the above Obligation is such, That whereas, the above bounden
George Jennings has this day prayed and obtained a License to marry
Georgia Schoolfield. Now if there is no lawful cause to obstruct said marriage and
for which license is desired, then this obligation to be void; otherwise, to remain in full force and virtue in law.

Note: I do not know the parents of George Jennings. Georgia Schoolfield is the daughter of George Schoolfield and Jennie Brimm. Will Morgan is the brother-in-law of Georgia Schoolfield. He was married to Georgia's sister Annie Nell Schoolfield. I only know of the existence of one child, Ella H.
