MARRIAGE LICENSE
"The world was sad; the garden was a wild; TO ANY ONE LEGALLY AUTHORIZED TO SOLEMNIZE MARRIAGES:
This is to authorize you to solemnize the RITE OF MATRIMONY between
Know all Men by these Presents: That we, Bud Green and ___________ of County of Dyer and State of Tennessee, are held and firmly bound unto the State of Tennessee, in the sum of Twelve Hundred and Fifty Dollars, to which payment, well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators, and each and every one of us, jointly and severally, by these presents. Witness our hands and seals this 11 day of June, 1921

The Condition of the above Obligation is such, That whereas, the above bounden
Bud Green has this day prayed and obtained a License to marry
Hattie Webb, Now if there is no lawful cause to obstruct said marriage and
for which license is desired, then this obligation to be void; otherwise, to remain in full force and virtue in law.

Menzies, Clerk Note: Bud Green is James William Green the son of John Green and Victoria Thurmond. I do not know the parents of Hattie. I believe that her name may have been Hattie Frances Webb. Bud and Hattie had the following known children, Elmer Eugene, James Thomas, Willie Sue. |
