Mclemore and John Tyrrell for the services of Robert Singleton decd. On warrant No 926 and runs East Four hundred poles to Martin Armstrong's South west corner; thence North with said Armstrong's line 140 poles to a stake thence west to the bank of the river or cutoff thence down said river with its meanders to the beginning containing 355 acres |

Singleton in the sum of $97.35 by note under seal dated 15th November 1843 due the first of January 1844 and am desirous to secure and make certain the payment of the same. Now if I should pay the said debt by the 25th day of December 1847 then this deed to be void. |

At a Circuit Court begun and held for the County of Dyer at the court House in the Town of Dyersburg in said State on the First Monday of February 1859, William M. Watkins this collector of the public taxes for said County of Dyer reported to said court...it was ordered that said 1 acre of land had been returned by the Revenue Commissioner for the State & County Taxes for the year 1858. It further appearing to the Court that same land was liable such taxes and the owner thereof had no goods or chattles within said County on which the collection can distrain. A judgment was entered on the 7th day of February 1859 againt said tract of land for the sum $4.42. It was ordered by the court that said Tract of land should be sufficient to satisfy said Taxes, cost and charges be sold as the law directs and thereupon order of the Court for sale of said land was issued. Caused the same to be duly and properly advertised according to law in a Public Newspaper in the Town of Dyersburg three successively weeks forty five days before the day of sale and the first Monday in July 1859 and the succeeding day at the Court House door in the Town of Dyersburg. James W. Singleton bid for the same and offered to pay the taxes, costs and charges due return for the whole of said Lot and no persons offering to pay the taxes, costs and charges for a less amount and then struck off and sold to James W. Singleton the said tract of land. |

Dawson Sheriff and Collector of public taxes for said county reported to said court among others the following tract of land: to wit John Lyetes heirs 320 acres part of Grant 416 in Range 1 Section 1st 75 degree that State and County Taxes therein $6.25 remain due and unpaid and that owners thereof had no goods or chattels within said County on which he could distsain for said taxes lying in Civil District No 2 but now in District No 1 beginning at a stake with white oak and dogwood pointers in the Cyer & Haywood County line B. F. Redick S. E. Comes runs north with his E. B. to a stake with Gum & Poplar pointers, thence East with the South boundary of Ann Elvia Smith & others to stake with oak & dogwood pointers I. N. Hays North West Corner thence south with his W. B. to a Stake Oak & Dogwood pointers Noah Hayes N. W. corner then along said Hayes west boundary to the aforesaid County line; thence to the beginning. On said report being made as aforesaid it was ordered by the Court that the same should be received and recorded by the clerk which was done. Whereupon it appearing to the Court that said land lay in the County of Dyer aforesaid ...state and county taxes of the year 1858. It further appearing to the Court the said land was liable to public taxes the public taxes overdue and unpaid and therefore the owners therefore had no goods or chattles within said County on which the collection can distrain for. The judgement was entered upon the 6th day of February 1854 in said county against said tract of land in the sum of $6.25 due on said land for the year 1853. and it was ordered that said tract of land should be sufficient to satisfy said taxes, cost and charge be sold as the Law directs. The Court ordered land to be sold ...Charles C. Moss & G. W. Talley big of same and offered to pay the taxes, costs and charges for the whole amount of said tract and no person offering...Clerk struck off and sold to Charles Mayo & G. W. Talley said tract of land.. Said Charles Mayo & G. W. Talley having assigned their interest to James W. Singleton and authorized a deed to be made to him. |

Singleton their grandchildren I give a tract of land in District No 1 & 2 a part of a 500 acre tract granted to Ben Smith by the State of North Carolina by grant No 416 and founded as: Begins at a hickory with elm pointers J. A. Stallings corner runs South with his and others N. B. 320 poles to a stake with white oak pointers; thence 100 poles with E. P. Stallings & others N. B. to a stake in Sassafras & Sugar tree pointers, thence north 320 poles to a stake with dogwood & hickory pointers, thence east 594 poles to the beginning. Containing 194 acres to J. W. Singleton & wife during their natural lifetime and to the said John T. Singleton and Johanna P. Singleton their heirs after the death of said J. W. Singleton and wife. I am lawfully seized of said land at present by Sheriffs deed and convey said land under said deed. |
