Marshall V. Boals
b: Dec. 26, 1916, d: July 13, 1986

Humboldt – Services for Marshall V. Boals, 69, will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Hunt Funeral Home with the Rev. Bennie Hopper officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery in Crockett County.

Mr. Boals, a retired rural letter carrier, died Sunday morning at his home after a long illness.

A Crockett County native, he was the son of the late Robert and Maggie Boals. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion.

Mr. Boals had lived the past 40 years in Humboldt, where he was a member of First United Methodist Church. He served three terms as worshipful master of Masonic Lodge 202.

Past president of the Rural Letter Carriers Association and chairman of the executive board, he is credited with starting the rural letter carriers automobile insurance program in Tennessee.

Mr. Boals was past president of the local chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Kathryn O'Neal Boals; three daughters, Linda Kathryn Loyd of Bryant, Ala., Bonnie Zimmerman of Oaklyn, N.J., and Marsha Boals of Alexandria, Va; three sisters, Carrie Boals and Essie Ray both of Memphis, and Beulah Palmore of Humboldt; and a granddaughter, Melodie Cattel, and grandson, Jason Cattel, both of Oaklyn.

A Masonic service will be at 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association or the American Kidney Foundation.
