Dear Madam:
This case is very poorly made up. In the first place, you have no proof of the date of your marriage.
In the second place, you have no Trustee's Certificate of what property you own, nor do you state it in your application.
To reconsider this case, the Board must have positive proof of the date of your marriage, a Trustee's Certificate showing what property you won, proof from citizens as to its actual value, and your income from all sources.
Very respectfully,
By order of the Board,

Dear Sir:
As a matter of accommodation to Mrs. Annie E. Whitley, 118 Tenth Avenue, Humboldt, Tennessee, I am writing to know the status of her claim for a pension as the widow of Confederate veteran W. W. Whitley, deceased.
Several months ago Mrs. Whitley forwarded to your Department her claim properly made out, but if there is any further information that you desire please communicate with me and I shall be very glad to assist her.
Mrs. Whitley is 67 years old and in destitute circumstances and if a widow of a Confederate veteran ever needed assistance she does. Unless this pension is granted within the next few weeks it is now very apparent that Mrs. Whitley will be an object of charity. I am getting no compensation for this letter and simply write as a matter of accommodation to the widow of a Confederate veteran.
Yours very truly,

Gentlemen: In Re: Mrs. Annie Whitley,
Claim for Pension, under Tennessee Laws.
I am mailing you the application of the above asking that she be allowed a pension as provided under the laws of this state. I am not enclosing her marriage certificate as you already have a copy of that in your file in this case, and too I have not been able to get anyone to answer the question as to her husband's war record, but since he was drawing a pension himself at the time of his death and you have their marriage certificate I deem it is not or will not be necessary to include his record, as that is record enough to show that she is entitled to a pension as provided under the laws of this state.
She also wants to ask for back pay from the time this act was passed as she had asked for the same before this act was passed and she had never been notified about the passage of this act and I think she is entitled to back pay from the passage of the act as she had applied for the same, and you had her record in your office.
Trusting that I may hear from you by return mail relative to the above information, I am,
Very respectfully,
