Personally appeared before me, B. H. Harman, a Notary Public for said County and State, Mrs. Lizzie C. Harman aged 63 years, a resident of Maury City, Tenn, after being duly sworn deposes in relation to Mrs. Martha Ann Perry's claim for pension as follows, To wit -

I am well acquainted with the applicant. She was Miss Martha Ann Warren before she married Mr. Noah Thomas Perry. They married Febry 23d 1860 at 3 o'clock P.M. by Asa Griffin, a Justice of the Peace at that time for Dyer County Tenn. I saw them married. There was quite a croud there, but all of them have since died unless some of her sisters children who with their parents moved to Texas in 1870. My father John P. Davis was the guardian of Martha Ann Warren at the time she and Mr. N. T. Perry married. After this marriage they resided near where I lived until his death December 14, 1878. I knew both of them several years before they married, and have been intimately acquainted with her ever since. She was his lawful wife at the time of his death and they lived together. And she has remained his widow ever since and never remarried.

They had several children born to them, as set out by her in her application for pension. I know her husband was in the Confederate army, and came home out of Northern prison after the civil war closed.

I staid with her at her home a good deal of the time durring the war as she lived in sight of my father.

She endurred many hardships during the war and since her widowhood and I done all she could for our Southland and for the confederate soldiers. She bears a good reputation, her character has always been above reprisal?

She was raised lady like and maintained her raising till this day. Her? little fortune that came to her at her marriage was swept away during the war and since her widowhood and she is poor and indigent. Most of her children died after they became grown, her sons whom she relied upon for comfort and support.

I have no personal interest in the procurment of her claims for pension.
