I, I. A. Green a native of the State of Alabama and now a citizen of Tennessee, resident at Maury City in the County of Crockett in said State of Tennessee, and who was a soldier from the State of Alabama in the war between the United States and the Confederate States, do hereby apply for aid under the Act of the General Assembly of Tennessee, entitled "An Act for the benefit of indigent and disabled soldiers of the late war between the States, and to fix the fees of attorneys or agents for procuring such pension, and fixing a penalty for the violation of the same." And I do solemnly swear that I was a member of Co. A. 12 Ala Cavalry in the service of the Confederate or United States, and that by reason of disability and indigence I am now entitled to receive the benefit of this Act. I further swear that I do not hold any National, State, or County office, nor do I receive aid or pension from any other State, or from the United States, and that I am not an inmate of any soldier's home, and that I am unable to earn a reasonable support for myself and family. I do further solemnly swear that the answers given to the following questions are true:

In what battle or battles were you engaged, and, if not wounded, state what disabilities did you receive, if any?
Answer: Atlanta Ga. Was not wounded, no disability.
What was the precise nature of your wound or disability, if any?

Were you incapacitated for service by reason of said wound or disability incurred?
Answer: No
Were you discharged from the army by reason of said wound or disability?

Personally appeared before me, M. M. Fulghum, Register in Chancery of said County, the following named John C. Williams and N. A. Hood, two of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing application, whom I am personally acquainted, and known to me to be citizens of veracity and standing in this community, and who make oath that they were personally acquainted with the foregoing applicant, and that the facts set forth and statements made in this application are correct and true, to the best of their knowledge and belief, and that they have no interest in this claim, and that said applicant's habits are unknown to us. And we further make oath to the following facts touching the applicant's service in the Confederate army:
That according to our knowledge and belief applicant - I. A. Green enlisted in Capt. Bennetts Company "A" 12 Regiment Alabama Cavalry. Col. Reese? Regiment, Wheelers Command. Date of Enlistement 1864. That said applicant was a good soldier and was with his command at the time of Johnston Surrender at Greensboro N.C. he was a true and good soldier, didn't desert ther service of the Confederate states. We were in the same Brigade.

Dear Sir:
In your application for pension in answer to the question, "How did you get out of the army, when and where", you say, "Paroled at Greensboro, N.C.", and just below that you say, "Somewhere in the State of Georgia." In answer to the question, "Were you paroled", you say, "No". What do you claim. I find a record of you for Dec. 31, 1864, when you were reported, "Present with your command".
I see you are assessed with 100 acres of land valued at $1100.00, and you say you have 8 head of stock. Tell me what your land is actually worth, and tell me also what your income is from all sources.

I have your affidavit of Sept. 22nd in reply to my letter of Sept. 12th Who was with you at the time you claim you were released at Jonesboro, N.C. Is there anyone now living that knows the facts. I wrote you sometime ago that I could find no record of it. Your explanation is not satisfactory. Must have better proof as to how, when, and where you got out of the Army.

I rec your letter in regards to my aplication for a pension I have no better proof then I have already sent you unless I can find some one that was with me at the time I was released from the army. I have writen again to a man that has his name on my aplication for a pension.

Dear Sir,
I have rec another letter from a friend in Ala who knew me personally during the war. Mr. J. C. Williams, Ashville, Ala & Mr. N. A. Hood & Bud Cox was in Mr. J. C. Williams's Brigade & with me also, & was there when Johnson surrendered, they knew me their address is Ashville Ala, will write again and have an add put in the Gadsden Times & News & see if I can find any other Reeses Battalion living about there it does look like that those men that signed my aplication would be proof enough if I can't find any of my Co. all those men was in the same Brigade.

Personally appeared before me the undersigned authority N. A. Hood and L. M. Cox who being by me duly sworn doth depose and say that they were members of Company "E" 51st Alabama Calvery Confederate States of America. That they are personally acquainted with Isaac A. Green, who was a member of Company "A" 12th Alabama Calvery of the same Brigade. CSA. That said Green now resides in or near Friendship, Tenn. During the last service of the war we freequently met with Mr. Green, and to the best of our knowledge and belief he remained in the service of the Confederate States up to the time of the surrender. Affiant Hood states that he saw said Green freequently after the war for some time and that he did not desert.
