The Crockett Circuit Court convened its first session in the Odd Fellows and Masonic Hall at Alamo, April 8, 1872, with Judge Gideon B. BLACK presiding, John SKIFFINGTON, as attorney-general, and William BEST, as clerk. The following grand jury was returned by the sheriff, R. G. HARRIS: I. M. JOHNSON, J. W. HAWKINS, Richard COOK, J. G. FLEMING, J. L. PERRY, E. B. CURTIS, Thomas BELL, R. W. BOYD, W. M. TATUM, W. A. GRAHAM, Z. P. WARREN, H. B. REAMS, and Thomas KENER. I. M. JOHNSON was the foreman.

The first courthouse was built in 1874. In 1934, the cupola was removed and a new roof and brick-stucko was installed. The new addition was built in 1968.
