The Good Hope Cemetery is located in the Bells area. From Belle Meade Rd., turn on Rogers Rd., and go to the very end of the road. The cemetery is across the small field, in the woods. The cemetery has been vandalized, and many of the tombstones have been toppled and/or broken. Below are photos of the only stones that were found in 2002. The following was in the Crockett Co. Sentinel, Friday, April 10, 1874, in response to the editor of the paper trying to get a fence put up around the Alamo City Cemetery: From Bells Depot I see in the Sentinel that there is some talk of building a fence around the cemetery at Alamo. If you could see the Good Hope grave yard, one mile east of this place on the Gadsden road, you would blush with shame for this community. At least one hundred and fifty graves and not a sign of a fence around them. It is a disgrace to any community to permit the hogs to sacrilegiously use the graves of their departed relatives and friends for beds.
