My ancestor came into Carroll Co. before the 1830 census, in 1830 he was listed
as;
1830 Census, Carroll Co., TN, p. 148; as ELumley, Edmon;
1840 Census, Tippah Co., MS, p. 189 - No. Dist: Edmund LUMLEY; He left Carroll
Co. ca 1836 when the Indian lands opened up;
LAND REC: General Land Office Tractbooks on 22 Nov 1836 - Tippah Co., MS. #6784
Record Office at Pontotoc, MS for $200.35, rec'd for North West Quarter of Sec.
28, Twp. 1, Range 5 East (160.28) acres & #6785 for $200.53, for South East
Quarter of Sec. 29, Twp. 1, Range 5 East (160.42) acres - Edmund Lumbley.
Land SALE: Carroll Co TN, 29 Mar 1839: Edmond Lumbley was here (Carroll Co.)in
1829 and bought land March Term, the 14th 1831 from John B. Roberts. Woodson's
in Co. fr SC, and Gibson Co TN.
I think he may have had sons who remained or went back to Carroll Co., the
family name was spelled as LUMBLEY, LUMBEY, & LUMLEY. I would very much like
to hear from others who may be connected to the family. My ancestor, his

I am looking for any information on Charles Johnson O'Guin, b. 1864 TN-d. 1949
McKenzie TN. His parents were Carroll O'Guin (b. abt 1825 TN) and Adeline
Cunningham (b. atb 1846 TN). Adeline seems to be Carroll's 2nd wife and died
1949 in McKenzie, TN. Want to locate his grandparents. Any information would be

I am looking for a possible connection between John WALL born about 1870,
married to Nora Verhine, lived in Weakley Co, TN and several John WALLs born
about 1870 in Carroll Co, TN. Children of John WALL and Nora Verhine are: Herman
WALL (1897), Vernon WALL (1899), Raymond WALL (1901), and Drew WALL (1903).
Possible connections: John H. WALL born 1811 married E. Tabitha Thomas 1834 in
Warren NC. 3 of his sons had sons names John who were born about 1870 - John R.
WALL, son of John O. WALL and Martha Ingram John Dudley WALL, son of Henry Clay

John MOORE md. Sophia E. JONES on 30 Jun 1870 in Benton Co., Tenn. (That is as
early as I have on John Moore.) They soon moved to Nashville, Howard Co.,
Arkansas. Sophia's father was Robert Paul JONES (b. 9 Jun 1827, in North
Carolina - d. 3 Nov 1900 in Howard Co., Ark.) Who are his parents? ( In 1850
Carroll Co. census, Robert Jones family is living not too far from William &
Lucinda JONES. ???) Sophia's mother was Martha Jane TROUTT (b. 6 Dec 1832, in
Tennessee - d. 20 Jun 1926 in Howard Co., Ark.). Martha TROUTT's father was
Henry TROUTT (b. ~1805, in North Carolina; living in Carroll Co. in 1850 with
his 2nd wife {Sabeary Denton} and his six sons: Alfred, Green, Micajah,
Granville, Henry C., & Elijah). Who was Martha's mother (she d. by 1848)?
[I'm stretching with the following: There was a Green SMOTHERS living near the
Henry TROUTT family. Could this point to the possibility that Henry's 1st wife
(Martha's mother) was a SMOTHERS? Both TROUTTS and SMOTHERS families are living
in Wilson Co., Tennessee according to earlier censuses (eg. 1830)] Contact Rev.

Traywick and Diannah Cook, Gillian married Allen Fields Hammett abt 1848 in
Carroll County. Diannah Cook Traywick sold her land there in abt 1858. I'm
looking for her family and for Allen Fields Hammetts parents. Any information is

Gilbert HART b 1784 NC married Nancy MOORE b 1794 NC in Orange Co, NC 13 Nov
1816. They were in Carroll Co., Tn by 1830 where they raised a big family and
lived out their lives in Carroll Co. James A. HART was one of their sons, his
1st wife is unknown, 2nd wife Jane ALLEN. William Thomas HART was son of James
A. HART and 1st wife. He married Mary Adelico KEMP after the civil war and moved
to Graves Co., Ky and on to Greene Co., Ar. Mary Adelico KEMP was the youngest
of 13 children of Aron (Aaron) KEMP and Tabitha (?RALSTON). Aron was born around
1800 in SC and Tabitha was born around 1807 in SC. I have found a marriage
record for a Joshua KEMP and Tabitha RALSTON 16 Nov 1820 in Barren Co., Ky. I
have not proven if this is them but strongly suppect that it is. Aron and
Tabitha was in Carroll Co., Tn. by at least 1830. Any help or info on these

My ansestor, Simeon "Sem Lemuel" CUDD, was married to Sarah Ann
POLLARD. He was killed in 1866 by "Carpetbaggers" in Carroll Co. TN,
He is burried at "Hollyleaf" I am told. He left a brood of 8 children
and a pregnant wife. Any official accounts of this incident have elluded me,
although I have been told they do exist. Anyone with information on the details

Simon Daly, b. abt 1852, lived in Rosser, m. Valentine , b. abt. 1859 (Volly,
well-known mid-wife in Rosser), abt 1873-4. Children were Eddie, b.1874, Robert,
b.1878 (later lived in Mena, Ark, m. Cloe, had son, Robert Jr.), Carl, Horce,
& Clint Atkins, b. 10/2/1882 -- d. 9/12/1935, m. Ina Rebecca Howell of
Fordyce,AR on 12/7/1904 (my grpt.), other infants may have died near birth.
Seeking info abt births, deaths, marriages, & cemetaries of Simon,
Valentine, Eddie, Carl,& Horce. Also seeking parents of Simon (from AL?) and
Valentine (Said to have some Indian heritage). Simon and Clint worked on Cotton

Hope you can help me. My paternal grandfather, MATTHEW HUNT, died in either
1962, 1963, or 1964 in western Tennessee. My parents (and I) lived in
Blytheville, Arkansas at that particular time. My dad died quite a few years ago
and there is no one in the family I can ask for particulars. I know this is very
vague but I do remember it was "coat" weather and the funeral was held
in a small country church somewhere in western Tennessee.
