Smith Thomas Hamilton and Henry F. Murray Special Administrator of the Estate of John McKennon Decd. Filed their Petitions in the Circuit court of Carroll County Tennessee against Harriett McKennon Julia McKennon Lycurgus Mc-Kennon and Mareillas McKennon heirs at law of John McKen non Decd. Praying the sale of certain Land and Town Lots there in described and set forth for the purpose of satisfying certain debts due to said Petitioners from the said John McKennon deceased and it appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that the said John McKennon departed this life in the state of Mississipi leaving the above named persons as his Only heirs at Law and that there was no general administrator upon said Estate in the state of Tennessee and it further appearing to the Court that the said John McKennon died seized and pos-sessed of the following tract of land to wit one tract in Carroll County Tennessee in the 12th Surveyors District on the South Side of Beaver Creek a fork of the South fork of Obion River Beginning in the low grounds of Briar Creek a fork of Beaver Creek being the South West corner of John Butlers part of the 5000 acre tract on which the Town of Huntingdon is situated and known in the division of said tract as lot No One for thirteen hundred acres running thence East seventy two poles to a black Gum with black gum ash & elm pointers Thence North crossing Brier Creek two hundred and twenty four poles to a hickory and and maple with pointers Standing on the Bank of Beaver Creek Thence west seventy two poles to a beech marked HG stand-ing on the bank of Beaver Creek the most northwest corner of said Butlers thirteen Hundred acre tract Thence South crossing Briar Creek at 145 poles runs to the right in all 227 poles to the beginning containing one hundred acres more or less and it further appearing to the Court that the above named petitioners were creditors of said John McKennon Decd. and that there was no personal property of said John McKen-non in the State of Tennessee and that these debts could not be paid and satisfied with out a sale of the real estate described in said petitioners and they having prayed a sale of the above described tract of Land an Interlocutory decree was made at the special March Term 1844 of the Circuit Court of Carroll County Tennessee directing Said land to be sold by John Norman a commissioner appointed for that purpose to the highest bider on a credit of 12 month after giving forty days notice of the time and law of Sale and whereas afterwards to wit on the 4th day of May 1844 the said John Norman after giving the notice required by said Interlocutory decree proceeded to sell the aforesaid described tract of Land and struck off the same to Edward Gwin for the sum of Two hundred and ten dollars he being the highest and first bider. Therefore, and whereas on the coming in of the report of said Com-missioners at the September Term 1845 of the said Circuit Court of Carroll County a decree was made directing the Clerk of said Court to execute deed of Conveyance to the purchaser for said land Now this indenture witnesseth that for and in consideration of the premises and the said sum of Two hun-dred and two Dollars paid agreeable to the said decree of said Court as aforesaid I John Norman Clerk of Said Court do hereby transfer and convey unto the said Edward Gwin his heirs and assigns forever all the right title claim and interest that the Harriett McKennon Julia McKennon Ly-surgus McKennon and Manellas McKennon have in sand to said tract of land of one hundred acres above described To have and to hold the same unto him the said Gwin & his heirs for ever in as full and ample a manner as I as Clerk aforesaid can or ought to convey but no further or otherwise witness my hand & seal This the 2nd day of May 1846 John Norman (Seal) ?
